COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our "winter warmer" ale, brewed with copious helpings of English malts and US and English hops, a ruddy hued "Imperial ESB" in style. Full malty flavors dancing with powerful hop aromas and a lingering, firm hop bitterness. Seasonally available from mid October to February.

Pours a beautiful dark amber with a nice head and good lacing. The aroma was a little lacking but smelled mainly of hops lacking any fruit nuances. The maltiness comes through in the flavor with the hops providing nice counter balance. A little hot on the palate but overall very good.

(12 ounce bottle - half pint glass) pours an orange liquid that leads to little head and very little lacing. Aroma is slightly sour and malty. Taste has notes of molasses and toffee, it is also sour. Medium bodied, slightly creamy texture, and soft carbonation.

12 oz. Cloudy amber, almost no head to speak of, definite hop aroma... first taste, meh, nothing special really here. Tastes like an IPA actually, not quite as bitter.

My first offering from Clipper City, Iíve been eyeing them for awhile now and never took the plunge until now. This winter offering pours a dark brown leaving a thick tan frothy head. the aroma is hoppy, caramel, sweet dark fruit. The taste is very hoppy, but balanced by a nice malt backbone that is highlight by a toffee sweetness that is followed by a definitive alcohal presence. I think this needs a bit more balance overall and the alcohal presence is far to great for only a 7.5% beer which can be overwhelming.

First thing I noticed was the extremely full body. This is one heavily creamy brew...so smooth and so substantial. The taste is almost as great, with just a little bit of dirt in the aftertaste that lingers. Otherwise, it has a great transition from sweet and mellow at first to bitter and a little sour on the back of your tongue. You canít really notice the alcohol too much with all else going on. Appearance is okay...could use more head, but who couldnít? Aroma is...a little weird, very biscuity with some figs maybe? i canít put my finger on the aroma, but itís sweet, complex and not too strong. Overall, I think I may have found my "go to" ESB. Awesome.

Typical american strong ale. With West Coast hops, but a bit too sweet/malty and cloying. Not my favorite. Looks and smells good though.

Poured from the bottle to a tulip. Cloudy mahogany. Thin wispy head didnít stick around. Nose is toffee caramel. The palate is all about the grain bill. Nice balancing with the hops carrying the load through the middle keeping the malts from bogging down the experience. Nice clean finish leaves a little warmth in the throat, doing itís job as a winter warmer.

Poors a dirty brownish gold with a large foam head that is a off white color. Appears to be unfiltered. Smells of sweets hops, like itís loaded with them. There is also some citrus in the smells as well. Taste is a well balanced mix of malt and hop. These are the commanding elements but other aspects such as toffee and caramel kind of add to the malt. Mostly this just taste like a bitter ale. Itís good a good winter warmer type of beer I feel the 7.5%abv in my chest and not in my mouth. Dry malty finish, malt is quiet dark with notes of toffee.

Poured coppery chestnut brown, creamy tan head with staying power and nice lace. Aromas of alcohol, herbal hops, malt and metal. Wonderful full-bodied taste, heavy on malt and hops, with alcohol showing through. Great mouthfeel. Reminded me why they make IPAs.

Bottle: dark amber in color with a nice tan head. Smell has got some nice citrus and pine smell, with a note of malt in the background. Taste is a bit sweet, with a malty finish, but a nice note of hop in there. Taste is good on this one. Just enough bitterness in this one.
