stoutlover72 (1313), NorCal, California, USA May 2, 2008 Pretty forgetful. This is my 2nd or 3rd time with Heavyweight and they just haven’t done much for me. I know they’re out of business for the most part. Wasn’t sure what to make out of this beer. A Belgian Strong? The beer poured out an amberish-red color with a medium sized head. First whiffs and all I got was malt, sour malt in fact. Yeast also shows up with a bit of tobacco notes. Flavors was like a plum extract or rotted plums..I don’t know which. Alcohol and spices are also very prominent. Seemed like a dubbel somehow. A bad dubbel. Anyways, not tasty at all.
joshwilfong (465), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 16, 2008 reddish brown with tan head. flavor of crystal malt with some sourness mixed in. tastes like belgian sour ale. a solid if not spectacular ale doublebock (141), USA May 31, 2008 Copper orange color. Honey malty aroma. Palate a bit flat. Flavor is toffee with noticiable kick followed by smooth orange and hoppy bite. checkmatei1 (198), Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, USA May 5, 2008 Bottle at Eulogy: Poured a dark amber color with a nice sized head. The aroma was strong malts and yeast. The flavor was sweet and slightly sour. Overall, for a beer that is probably going on two years old, it is still holding its flavor and is enjoyable to drink. Glad I got to try this. JB175 (1264), Holland, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 3, 2008 Plum color with lots of yeasties in suspension. Aroma is dominated by some raisin with a bit of brown sugar and bread. Flavor is sweet and bready - lots of sugar, dark fruit, and caramel/slightly sweet candy. Thinner mouthfeel. Good and unique, but this is mediocre relative to the better Heavyweight beers that were made.
