sneagrams3 (1498), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Nov 19, 2006 Thanks to beerdrenched (see below) for the great opportunity. 2005. 750ml bottle. Deep dark and blood brown. The dregs. Finger width of clinging off-white head. Vanilla and oily smooth. Slight smokiness. Vanilla and spicy. Sweet malts, alcohol middle and a sticky finish. Cocoa and fruity. Nutty. Twisted and complex. Really, really good! As it ages the vanilla note really shines. Absolutely fabulous! Sweet vanilla malt oaky flavor. Thank you Eric!
lassem (175), Copenhagen, Denmark Jan 3, 2009 Bottle 75 cl from 2005. Pours a hazy brown with a inch-high tanned head. The nose is clearly bourbon-like with hints of cherries and lots of alcohol. A overwhelmin mouthfeel takes you away - creamy and thick like a sauce. Tastes of burned malts, oakbarrels, brown sugar, vanilla and plum in madaira. Sticky and fizzy at your tounge. Rich aroma, of malt, wood, herbs, and dark fruit. Big taste, of malt, wood, dark fruits and an alcohol bite. Lingering rich malt-wood flavors. Very very tasty. This bottle came via trade with someone. Over and over, people rave about this and now its my turn. Pours dark brown with a bubbly head. Nose is really damn nice, super rich. Taste is sweet and big and full of flavor lots of rich sweetmalts, tons of rich full flavor, 11% is completely undetectable. BrianK (102), New Jersey, USA Jan 1, 2009 Keeping with my tradition, I open a bottle at midnight new years eve. This shit is drinking better than last year. This is one of my favorite barrel aged beers as the barrel enhances the beer in a great way without becoming overbearing. I can totally taste 05 Old Salty in this one. Great stuff. Well attenuated.
