wonderful stuff! had it on draft recently. had a nice typically belgian nose and initial taste followed by what tasted like an english brown ale! quite sweet, but this combination made it very interesting. shockingly drinkable for the 10% abv, watch out!

Dark brown with a small, long lasting head. Impressive nose, blending coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. Very smooth taste with a sweetness that developes after the lingering aroma begins to fade. Finishes with a bit of an alcohol burn. On tap at Monks.

A very pleasant Belgian Strong. Very dark appearance with a creamy head. The taste was surprisingly unusual, light, and enjoyable. A bit of plum, a bit of spice.

Draught @ Moan & Dove in Amherst: Deep murky ruddy brown. Nose is yeast, alcohol, spice. Small whitish head. Starts real sweet, with big underlying malt flavor. Caramel/toffe-ish, dark fruit, fig, plum, chocolate covered cherry. Medium to full bodied, finising with a yeasty whack, and a wallop of alcohol. Alcohol is real evident, but this is still a very well made, terribly drinkable brew. Tom is da man!

Very dark with ruby tones a very nice lighty chocolate head and plenty of lace. Aroma is malty with tones of alcohol, berries and doughieness. Quite malty with strong tones of raspberry and a light doughieness. Too sweet or it could be very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 ClarkVV (3578) - Allston, Massachusetts, USA - MAY 11, 2004
AOBF 04 draught. Pours a deep brown with a lovely hickory/red tinge to it. Good yellow flecked off-white head and very hazy. Aroma has plenty of light raspberries in it, a huge dose of yeast and some drier malt. Flavor immediately is moderately astringent stemming from a dry fruit flavor (blueberries, raspberries, cherries). The yeast makes a big appearance and as the beer begins to finish, a candi-like sugar flavor makes an entrance. Very interesting beer. It starts out dry and waxes sweet. Very yeasty, doughy finish. Body is only medium, touch of wateriness. Some earthy/root-like spiciness in there as well. Bizarre, it certainly is. Take away the overly astringent flavors and I'd be sold.
