Cask... poured a brownish red color with a small tan, creamy head and nice lacing. Aroma began sweet and fruity, and then turned dry, with roasty malt. Taste was also prominent chocolate, some roasty malt, and finishing smokey. There was a little bitterness present here.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 15/20
08.14.04 Sampled at HW 5th Anniv. Light roasty aromas. Black and fizzy looking beer with quick head. Flavors dry and crisp, the light bitterness of morning coffee at lunchtime. Maybe too eff for me? This might be what coffee flavored soda would taste like. I hope so! I was looking forward to this schwarz due to it’s lineage and was not let down despite ill success in the past with the style.

Dark brown with small tan head. Roasted malt aroma. Flavor of roasted malt is strong at first sip but mellows
after that and finishes clean.

At first this didn’t taste like much but then with a clean palette it was much better. Not as good as the Hammer, but nice none the less.

Tap at Sparky’s Ale House: Roasty and chocolate, with some bitterness. Intesting that they made it from the dregs of Perkuno’s Hammer. Actually, that sounds rather unappealing. Black in color and a thin beige head.
