jjpm74 (3110), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Mar 23, 2007 Bottle courtesy of hopdog. Pours brown with a huge white head that takes forever and a day to settle. Smells of nuts, coffee, chocolate, lots of roasty character that begs constant revisits. Taste is of coffee and chocolate, but they are in perfect balance. Lots of tartness emerges as the beer warms. There’s some sugar and cinnamon on the finish that compliments a hearty malty finish. This is a keeper! CharlesDarwin (1409), State College, Pennsylvania, USA May 19, 2007 750mL. Thanks for sharing Andy. Bubbly toasted honey-almond aroma, with a proud roast edge. Smoke eventually develops, climbing out over toasted oatmeal. Amber-tinted brown with a foam of off-white. Flavor is an airy waif of seductive nut qualtieis. Tons of praline. Pan roasted oats. Bits of floral fruits. The carbonation is over the top, but helps bring forth nuances in this beer. Kashi. A ton of complexity and perfumey sweetness. Some high alcohols climb through. Whoppers. Tahooey hazlenut truffles. Mace and hickory. One word that really encompasses this beer is "tiramisu". Some nips of prosciutto salt on the backend. Beautiful. awaisanen (1161), Irvine, California, USA May 20, 2007 From a 750mL Bottle. Obtained in a trade with hopdog. Thanks, Steve! Light brown, hazy color with a tall layer of extremely tall soapy, off-white head. Aroma of toasted almonds and lots of roasted puffed barley cereal. Some hickory smoke and baked oatmeal going on as well. A light, chewy caramel plume rises, dusted with some sea salt. Musky, earthy coconut husks with a splash of vanilla. Excellent complexity. Light bodied, heavily carbonated mouthfeel. Too much carbonation at this point sizzles across the palate. If the carbonation was more restrained, the flavors might even be more impressive than they already are. Lots of toasted oatmeal and a flurry of coconut husks warms the palate, spiced by a hint of mace and woody silver maple bark. Finish is long and drawn out, bringing some light roast coffee and dry baker’s chocolate forward. Nutty, chocolatey, earthy, musky, smokey - delicious. DYCSoccer17 (2040), Davis, California, USA Jun 16, 2006 Half pint on tap at American Flatbread in Burlingtoon, VT. Tons of coffee in the aroma with more maltiness coming in later with some sweet caramel malts. I also detect lots of butterscotch in the nose. Very sweet, and very quaffable beer. Transparent dark amber color with a kiss of a ruby hue as well. Off-yellowish small head with great lacing. Beautiful beverage. Roasty coffee/french vanilla/butterscotch/caramel flavors to start, which becomes a tad thin to finish with some smokiness and roastiness as well. Hops are not present. This is a bit sweet, but incredibly enjoyable. Hopefully the brewer resurrects this recipe in the future with his new endeavors. egajdzis (3021), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 3, 2006 Updated: Dec 28, 2006[Draft @ Open House] Poured a hazy, brown color with a medium sized, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoke, nuts, caramel malt, and light chocolate. Taste of much of the same, lots of smoke, sweet caramel, and a chewy mouthfeel.
