Ungstrup (11713), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 9, 2004 The aroma is powerful of coriander and black pepper. The color is an unclear orange and it has a fine disappearing head. The flavor is rather sweet with notes of alcohol, coriander, lemon, and acidity that runs over the tongue. Oakes (7032), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Feb 1, 2003 Dark muddy tan (I broke out the Duvel glass for this?); aroma of peach yoghurt, glue & plastic (yum!), figs, candy bananas (damn, I've learned the eczematic art of making an appetizing aroma sound awful). Malty-yeasty palate leans toward peachy esters. Texture is almost creamy. Malts are dominant, but yet neutral-tasting. Dry finish courtesy of alcohol and some herbal (styrian) hops. I'm amazed at how obvious styrians are to me these days. It's scary. Overall, decent but not worthy of a Duvel glass. Underattenuated, too. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 04/10/2004
argo0 (6289), Washington DC, USA Nov 12, 2002 Opaque orange body with almost no head. Aroma is slightly sweet, a bit of spice (pepper, coriander). Flavor is fairly mild, a bit of sweetness that becomes cloying as it warms, some pepper and other spices. Rastacouere (5418), Montréal, Quebec, Canada May 9, 2005 Very diminishing white head covers a light golden body with tiny yeast floaties. Malty aroma contains interesting pear notes, but little else. Floral and biscuity palate procures a mellow warming. What saves it from being redundant remains those not unpleasant cork notes that work pretty well with the leafiness and coriander flavours. Light-medium body, medium carbonation. Alright, but Heavyweight has proved it can do better at Belgians with its recent line of Saisons..
