COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Lunacy is brewed exclusively with Belgian Pilsner malt, Styrian and English Goldings hops and freshly ground coriander. It begins its life with a long patient boil and is cast into the fermenter at 17.5 P. It then undergoes a vigorous fermentation and extended cold conditioning. After bottling, the beer receives an additional 2 week warm rest before it is released. This yields a surprisingly refreshing brew with spicy notes, sweet malt and subtle fruit.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, my bottle via trade with zathrus13. Cloudy yellow-orange with an average white creamy-fizzy head. Plenty of funky yeast and spice in the aroma, sour lemon, mild sweet tree fruit malt - a bit like a thick saison. Taste is simpler - a distillation of the aromas, slightly tart very malty with a bitter yeast/spice finish. Fairly thick body, not much carbonation, very funky. Nice, not great.

UPDATED: FEB 3, 2003 Thanks to dberger624 for this one. Pours a hazy orange color with a thin off-white head. Very little lacing. Aroma is a nice blend of citrus (orange), malt and spice. The flavor is a nice crisp and sweet mingling of caramel malt, fruit, yeast, and spice. There is a tiny bit of hops in the finish too. This was not bad at all.

Poured a cloudy golden color with a small head that left some lacing. Wakie hit it on the head saying this is a hefeweizen meets IPA. Initial fruity orange taste followed by a mild hoppy taste.

Aroma of apple, hay, dust, yeast, spice, maybe some grassy sweetness. Hazy dark orange with a thin white ring around the edges of my tulip. Green apple, spice, yeast, biscuit sweetness, a little grassy lemon pepper bitterness in the finish. A touch of alcohol comes through. Pretty enjoyable, I wonder how old it is?

12-oz. Thanks, Luiss! Pours deep murky burnished copper. Thin white head that doesn’t stick around; laceless. Big tangy tangerine nose riding wave of yeasty breadiness. Thin, watery body and no carb to speak of--makes for a weak attack, but the flavors have some heft to them. Decent malty caramel sweetness under the tangerine and bready/yeastiness. This is a nice little beer but the stillness is a bit of a problem.

Mild cabbage, pastry yeast and earthy, leafy, spicy notes to the sweet, malty aroma. Opaque yellow-gold with thin but lasting light cover of white head. Mild lactic, leafy coriander to the malty flavour with some alcohol in the finish. Definite alcohol warming. Dry, medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Bottle sampled with MartinT, Olivier_MTL and Rastacouere.

Bottle shared with and courtesy of HogTownHarry. Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with an average size fizzy white head. Slightly sour aroma of lots of lemon, yeast and spices along with some sugary sweetness and fruit -- just alright. Flavour’s yeasty, lemony and spicy and with a bitter slightly boozy finish. Medium bodied. Nothing really wrong with this, it’s well made, it just didn’t do much for me.

Bottled. Minimal head for Belgian-style, pretty bright golden color. Nose yeasty, spicy, sweet, perfumy, bit wheaty, very fresh. Flavor nicely balanced sweet/sour, banana-wheat-coriander presence, smooth, pleasant, nothing extraordinary. Full body.

Poured a hazy gold color with an off-white head. The aroma was malty with a fair amount of fruity esters. The malty flavor had mild yeasty esters and a very spicy finish. Mildly bitter finish and dry.

Pours a clouded orange-amber with a moderate tanned head. Aroma is nicely spiced with coriander, along with candy sugar, sweet malt, yeast and flowers. Taste reveals more of the coriander and yeast. Some mild fruit notes as well as fruit (banana). Hint of bubblegum as well. Almost like a rich hefeweizen blended with a Belgian. Palate has lively carbonation and duly spiced. Finish is wheaty with sweet malts and ripe fruit being prevalent. Good beer! The Heavyweight line has impressed me!
