awaisanen (1189), Irvine, California, USA Oct 29, 2006 From a 750mL Bottle. Slightly hazy, golden amber pour with a copious amount of brilliant white foamy head. Wonderful tropical fruit aromas of passion fruit and papaya, complimented nicely by a smidgen of light pepper spice, perhaps grains of paradise. An amazing layer of barnyard funkiness tightens up the already tantalizing bouquet, taking a back seat to the tropical fruit nose. Light bodied, intensely carbonated mouthfeel. Very light, dry palate that explodes with incredibly unique flavors. The wild yeast characters dominate the tongue a bit more, leaving the tropical fruit notes to take a back seat to their refined, herbal grassy hops and balanced bretts. Some flavors of pineapple and papaya follow up a musty, yeasty funk quite well, all the time preserving the beer’s brilliant dry body. Long, pleasantly dry finish, slightly tart with a spicy herbal hops smack. Simply marvelous!
ogglethorp (804), Ohio, USA Sep 10, 2008 Bottle shared at Cleveland tasting, by Paul I believe! Pours coppery color with a soapy beige colored head. Aroma is straw, citrus, grass, spices. Flavor is light malts, citrus, light fruits, yeast. Palate is medium bodied, medium plus on the carbonation, finished with light tartness. Not sure on the age of the bottle, but i held up well. Good stuff! DA (2586), Portland, Oregon City, Oregon, USA Aug 30, 2008 RBSG 2008. Sometime I really enjoy trying a beer and having no idea what the heck it is, this was one of them. Nice orange pour holding up a soft white head. Sweeter start to the flavor, but then quickly changes to a tart sour finish. What once was a citrus candy like flavor changes to tart cherries and bretty wild yeast goodness. fiver29 (365), Strongsville, Ohio, USA Aug 23, 2008 Bottle shared at Cleveland tasting on 8-23-08. Thanks!! Bottle pours orange with a off white head. Has a nice aroma of citrus fruits, apples, earthy tones, and some funk. The flavor is citrus fruit, candy sugar, and some funky yeast. Medium bodied and extremely carbonated that leads to a dry, bitter finish. There was a lot of carbonation in this one for an aged bottle, but it made things interesting. This was really good, and glad I got to try it.
