3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 ChainGangGuy (4122) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JAN 1, 2013
Join me, as I enjoy a Taste of History!
Appearance: Cautiously poured a deep amber-hued body, quite clear, due to the yeast packed into the bottom of the bottle due to years of quiet solitude. No head beyond a few, large stray bottles.
Smell: Toasted breadcrusts, some cooked honey, and aged-derived notes of cardboard and a hint of metal. Some dark fruitiness, some dirty socks.
Taste: Toasted breadcrusts, forgotten grains, and a low, supporting honeyesque sweetness. Raisins, loose change, and some water-logged cardboard.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. No remaining carbonation.
Overall: This had been another installment of... a Taste of History!

Bottle from kp. Served into a snifter. Pour is hazy nut brown with a small ring of sticky white head. Aromas of rasins, caramel, faded hops, and sweet fruit. Flavor is mellow and smooth with caramel, rasin, and plum. Past its prime but still enjoyable.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Beerlando (3342) - Orlando, Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2009
Bottle (3 years old?), courtesy GodOfThunder. Pours a hazy, reddish amber color with a dense, foamy, khaki colored head. Minimal, spotty lacing. The aroma is mostly sweet, light caramel and bready yeast dominating lesser notes of toffee, floral hops, and peppery spice. Flavors follow suit, sweet biscuit and toasted bread showing in the forefront, with staunch floral hops following through. Dark fruits emerge at the mid point, mostly figgy, but reaching as far as sweet-tart strawberry. Medium-plus bodied and well carbonated, the mouthfeel doesn’t impress, but doesn’t disappoint either. As others have noted, it’s certainly not at its best, but it is still solid even at this age.
3.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 GodOfThunder (1235) - Orlando, Florida, USA - NOV 19, 2008
A couple year old altbier... hmmm... Pours a cloudy amber with a thick fluffy tan head. Good carbonation, but smells mostly metallic. I’m actually surprised by the taste. Knowing this is likely nothing like it once tasted like, I like it. A lot of fruit, and even some sour. A good amount of spice, too. Certainly not in its prime, but it isn’t bad at all.

Bottle. Pours an orange brown body with a tan head. Fruity with notes of over ripe fruit, lemon, apple, pear, and a hint of butter. Lightly oxidized with a faint hop presence. Okay but past its prime obv.
