Commercial Description:
(Jul-Sep) Style be damned once again. An Alt that's a lager? Stickenjab is a sticke or secret alt that was smacked upside the head with lots-o-German hops. Formulated in the collective mind of NJAB (New Jersey Association of Beerwriters), this beer is our fourth collaborative brew. Munich and pilsner malts support an armful of Hersbrucker hops. This crisp, clean amber brew is available is the summer months. 48 IBUs and 6.4% ABV.

Cloudy apple cider. Small, frothy tan head. Fairly robust carbonation. Sourish aroma with faint spicy hops and fruity sweetness. Foamy, frothy and lively. Spicy alcohol bite and a mild apple sweetness start things off. German hop bitterness and spicy flavor linger in the aftertaste. Medium light body. Tangy yeast flavor, bordering on sour. Turns nutty dry and bitter towards the end, with a walnut skin essence. Carbonation softens and the fruity aspects reduce to near nothing. Finishes dry with a hoppy, yeasty, nut skin fusion. Might have lost a little over time but still a solid version.

A couple year old altbier... hmmm... Pours a cloudy amber with a thick fluffy tan head. Good carbonation, but smells mostly metallic. I’m actually surprised by the taste. Knowing this is likely nothing like it once tasted like, I like it. A lot of fruit, and even some sour. A good amount of spice, too. Certainly not in its prime, but it isn’t bad at all.

Bottle. Pours an orange brown body with a tan head. Fruity with notes of over ripe fruit, lemon, apple, pear, and a hint of butter. Lightly oxidized with a faint hop presence. Okay but past its prime obv.

Pours a medium caramel color with a touch of caramel in the nose and flavor. This bottle is passed its prime and has substantial oxidation.

Bottle from eclectic. Thanks man! Pours a hazy brown orange with a thin head and great lacing. Aromas of caramel, old grassy/earthy hops, some tart fruits - lemon, apple. The flavor is kind of tart up front. Green apples are followed by a little bread, caramel malts, and earthy hops. Finishes a little tart with some oxidized hop presence. Lightly carbonated and pretty easy to drink all things considered. I am pretty sure this was nice fresh if it tastes this way a few years old. Still drinkable, even though it is obviously starting to decline.

12oz bottle, no date from BrianK, thanks! Hazy orange copper with a small yellow beige head, fading to a ring and film before long. Thin stringy lacing. Aroma of buttery sweet caramel and yeasty bread up front. A little bit of earthy hops are also present. Flavor has a lot of tangy (cherry and apple?) notes that I don’t think should be there, but really didn’t taste all that bad. Plenty of earthiness and caramel, some oxidation present. Low carbonation with medium body. Clearly past its prime, but I don’t think altbiers are meant to be consumed years after bottling. That said, not too bad.
