3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dickinsonbeer (5075) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - APR 13, 2006
Tap at andys. All right- who entered this as an APA? This is their old crusty, but they actually added a bunch of hops to make it more like some of the west coast BW’s. Pours a cloudy deep amber with a thin head. Aroma is sweet, carame, more melanoiden bready malts, lots of mixed random hops- some citrus some spicy and herbal. Flavor is nice and smooth with lots of caramel malts, nutty character, and a hoppy zesty bitterness in the end. Pretty good overall, but I think I like a nice aged regular old salty better, and Im a hophead.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 jimmack (1221) - Nutley, New Jersey, USA - APR 13, 2006
Tap at Andy’s. Murky brown color with a small tan head. Malty, fruity aroma with some brown sugar and a bit of hops. Sweet malty flavor with some dried fruits, molasses and just a hint of bitter hops on the finish. Supposedly the base of this beer is their Old Salty with extra hops thrown in. Could have used some more hops IMO, but nonetheless a solid beer.
