3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Shaney (1735) - Köln / Cologne, GERMANY - DEC 16, 2012
#261
Gelungen!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 brugmanneke (222) - GERMANY - SEP 30, 2012
(50 cl bottle) brown, clear, with a foamy white head. Aroma is toasty and malty, with notes of treacle and honey, a hint of metal, and hay-like hops. Taste is sweetish, after a while some very moderate bitterness comes through, just as the hay-like hops appear behind the dominant maltiness. Not bad, but too sweet for my taste.

Dark yellow colour. Medium head. Malty, honeyish sweet, yet hoppy aroma. Quite balanced taste, initially medium sweet and malty, but moving pretty fast into a delicate floral hoppiness with a lasting hop-bitter finish.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 downender (5191) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JUL 29, 2012
Bottled as Hebendanz Annafestbier bought at Landbierparadies. Clear amber with no head and slight carbonation. Bready malt aroma with a slightly peppery edge. Easy drinking for the ABV, with some summers fruit sweetness, a touch of honey and suggestion of roastiness in the bitter, yet slightly perfumed finish. Good.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 EithCubes (4199) - New Jersey, USA - JUL 27, 2012
Bottled as Hebendanz Annafestbier, by 19.10.12. Nose is sweet and meaty, a little vegetal. Beautiful clear copper body with a soapy beige head. Sweet taste with basically no bitterness, a good rich malt with some complexity, caramel and faint floral notes with a kick up of spices toward the end. Light-medium body, a little crisp/tingly at first but smooths out. This one’s all about the sweet (Munich) malt, and it does its thing quite well.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 adnielsen (6213) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - JUL 1, 2012
UPDATED: JUL 26, 2012 Bottle in Schlitz. Fairly clear, dark golden appearance with an off white head. Quite rich toasty, cracker, bready, straw noble hoppy aroma. Toasty cracker, light caramel, spicy flavor. Update: Tasted again at Annafest in a one liter maskrug and it’s absolutely fantastic. Great shit!

(Rating #3826)
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - AUG 1, 2011
My Bottom Line :
Distinctively earthy, this full-bodied Festbier also differentiates itself from the rest with its lightly toasted and caramelized flavors.
Further Personal Perceptions :
-A veil of foam tops the krug; upon its partial disappearance, the liquid reveals its darker colour than other Festbiers at the Annafest.
-The hops weren’t as important in this one’s flavor profile; they do contribute wooden hop bitterness though.
-The malt signature has lots of character. I’d like to know what they do at Hebendanz because they sure aren’t getting typical flavors from their grain.
-Like many Annafestbiers, this wasn’t too easy-drinking, but its rough personality and soft, full mouthfeel were both quite engaging.
On tap at Annafest.
