Phone rate, $8 for 8oz at Blind Tiger. Murky brown with a small off-white head, down to a thin ring quickly. Lactose and wine barrel nose with a little acetic acid and buttery brett following. Flavor has stronger vinegar and a tinge more wine barrel, still moderate buttery brett and some wheat. Sourness peaked at a 3, bitterness a 2 in the dry finish. Alcohol masked well. Medium full body, light carbonation. Not bad.

Bar Great Harry: tap: tulip: the beer pours like cappuccino, no joke... looked like YooHoo in a glass with a very thin head ring. Had no idea what this beer was so when I smelled this pungent citrus aroma I was taken back. At first I couldn’t place the scent, I was thinking strawberry, grapefruit perhaps. The taste was wildly bitter and tart, with some lightly sweet undertones. For a fruit beer, they certainly got their point across however, well let’s just say I couldn’t bear to finish the glass...

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 NachlamSie (2153) - Tennessee, USA - OCT 16, 2009
On tap at The Porter. Poured into a goblet, this beer is a cloudy peach color with only a sparse ring of bubbles which resemble a head. Though I was not expecting much to delight me, a sniff revealed a surprisingly pleasing aroma. This is tart, dare I say, sour with hints of white wine, vinegar, oak, and obviously pomegranate. The palate is slick, carrying a tart flavor which becomes juicier towards the finish. It’s a wildly fruity beer with a nice tartness. The barrel aging has infused a mild, tasteful presence of straight up wood. Yes, this is a fairly nuanced beer, but pomegranate remains the focus.
