3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark reddish ruby brown with green-tinted off-white head. A malty, but still fruity crisp bite, with boozy bitter finish. A lot of malt, as expected, and the alcohol presence is obvious. For some reason, this reminds me of a stronger version of Three Creeks Hoodoo Voodoo IPA both in appearance and flavor profile. Decent, but it’s a big brew for more than one or two.

Picked up a growler of this. Pours like a red ale with very little head. Very potent rye, dried fruit aroma. Very rich, a bit boozy at first but balance gets better. Flavours mostly rye and caramel with hops on background.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Aroma is heavy with rye malt, citrus hops, pine hops, biscuit, and earthy notes. Taste is bitter, citrus, rye, vanilla, and bubblegum. Palate is medium bodied, fizzy, and has a pleasantly malty bitter finish. Great RyePA, and a great beer in general. Highly recommended for all IPA lovers.

Pours a dark but clear amber with thick light brown head. Has a strong caramel, sweet malt, and dark alcohol aroma. Taste is strong with caramel, sweet malts, dark alcohol, and hops. A sour aftertaste from the dark and rich mix of flavors.

Near clear reddish brown. Aroma and taste are sweet citrus, caramel and rye. A little overly sweet for me.

Sorry for not saying something on this sooner:
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a slightly hazy bronzed orange to a reddish/brown color with a slim white film of a head that dissipates within seconds.
The smell started off with a nice sweet citrus aspect to it and then carried a fairly decent spicy rye note into the rest of the aroma.
The taste was fairly sweet citrusy leading into a semi-nice spicy rye note.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice rolling sweet to spicy connotation about it.
Overall, good DIPA with a nice rye note running about it. Definitely worthy of having again.

From a 22 oz bottle shared at home. Pours a clear dark copper with an off white head. Aroma of whiskey. Flavors of caramel, butterscotch and some bitter pine resin. Smooth and mellow. Bitter finish.

Very hazy dark amber beer, decent cream colour head. Palate is airy and semi dry, fine carbonation. Creamy bourbon soaked malt. Alcohol spice. Touch of bitter wood. Nice smooth vanilla oak. Mild hop spice and a little marmalade. Finishes semi dry with the bourbon turning a little bitter. Quite bourbon led but nice. As per other raters, this really seems a barleywine and not a DIPA.

LONG time wish lister: Definitely more barleywine than IPA after time in the barrels, but DAMN do the Redemption Rye barrels compliment this beer well! Luscious feel, full aroma and flavor, bitterweet, heavy on the rye, very very smooth. Opened up and just kept getting better

22 oz bottle served with dinner. Too strong to work well with food but nice as an after-meal sipper. The load of flavor from the rye barrel would overpower most beers but not this DIPA. Sweet for style, suggesting, with the strong rye flavor, that some rye whisky was left in the barrels.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle: Poured a light clear amber color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry bitter hops and rye whiskey notes actually works well together which is a first for me since I usually don’t dig barrel-aged IPA. Taste is a perfect mix between the dry caramel malt residual sugars with some dry bitter hops notes and the rye whiskey notes which are quite pronounced but do a good job of rounding the rough edges of this beer. Body is about average with good carbonation with light warming alcohol notes. This one drinks more like a barrel-aged barley wine with a touch of hops but very good nonetheless.
