yespr (11649), Copenhagen O, Denmark Sep 12, 2008 22 cL bottle. Clear and golden amber with a lacing white head. Hoppy and slight woody aroma. Vague citrusy note too. Smooth and dry malty base flavour with a distinct and solid hops spiced bitter flavour on top. Dry and bitter finish with a dark fruity note and a solid wooden base into the far finish. drpimento (796), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA Sep 11, 2008 Poured with a lasting light head and a bit of lace. Slightly hazy dark amber color. Pungent aroma of hops with an enticing quality of sweet malt. The rye is a masterful touch. Full on in the hop department. No BS hefre. Slight alcohol character in the long, warm finish. . Very good body. Best beer that I’ve had from these guys yet. ilherps (212), Carbondale, Illinois, USA Sep 11, 2008 It pours a deep coppery, opaque orange with LOTS of sediment, about a finger of head which tapers off but lasts in a thin layer for the duration of the life of the beer. For something with IPA in the name, this is suprisingly malty, lots of burnt chocolate flavor with apparent malts, a flavor of toast, and barley on the nose. There is a bitter hoppiness on the finish, but its subtle. This is not what I expected, but it is excellent. surlysober (41), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 10, 2008 NTH TRIAL: Dirty orange body with a thin white head; Fruity and citrusy hops combine to give this an orange-like smell with warm, roasty undertones; the delicious flavors fill your mouth with rich, roasted, caramel maltiness, fresh baked bread, and a bitter hop finish. Overall, this beer is very, very good. Each of its complex flavors balances out so well with the others that they could be missed if not careful. Why don’t I buy this more often? faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Sep 9, 2008 Botella. Deep amber colour. Dark fruity alco bittter aroma. Good mouthfeel. The flavour is sweet with bitter hops, alcohol, malt and rye. Sweet dry bitter finish. AgentSteve (1334), SF Bay Area, California, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a decent dark amber with cream colored head. Powerful rye nose, with a flavor that goes kind of ice tea and heavilly earthy rye. fakepurseninja (773), Washington, USA Sep 3, 2008 Really sweet, rye malt backbone that is huge and all-up-in-yo-face. Big sweet caramel malt with strong, astringent rye components. Super resiny hop profile with lots of sharp stinging citrus and pine. Makes me think "Lagunitas" which IMO is a good thing. Butters (1623), Virginia, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours a clear dark amber with orange highlights and a good, but fading light tan head with decent lacing and some chunkies. Aroma is deceptively malty. Flavor has a big hop-bite in the finish, but is decidedly well balanced. Syrupy body. Certainly doesn’t taste like 10%, but I sure can feel it after half a glass.
