RSRIZZO (1346), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 31, 2008 Aroma of caramel and hops. Color is a nice amber gold with light carbonation and just a ring for a head. Taste is rich and citrus. Starting with a full body it goes down with a rich, thick feel. Finish comes in sweet with a caramel malty taste then an almost orange like flavor and a little pine. After taste rolls out with a hoppy bitterness. This is a bold and tasty brew and a very good example of a double IPA. Acknud (770), Morganfield, Kentucky, USA May 31, 2008 Everything was good but then this bitter lingering aftertaste wouldn’t go away and it turned a little metallic. That really hit my flavor score. TheSponge (272), Lynnwood, Washington, USA May 28, 2008 1 pint, 6 fl. oz. bottle. Pours a dark amber/red color. Full bodied and very malty. Aroma: Whole wheat bread and dried fruit. This is one awesome beer. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA May 26, 2008 22oz bottle-A nice ruby body with a tight off white head and an aroma of hops, malt, .Taste is of hops, malt, rye, caramel, and a dry aftertaste. This definitely has more of a malt base than a hop base. Not your normal IIPA. Still very drinkable but for you hopheads stay away. This full bodied brew has lots of flavor and is worth trying. jthg (66), Austin, Texas, USA May 26, 2008 (3 beers in) Sweet malt and citrusy hops aroma. Very bitter on the palate, sweet syrupy caramel falvors mixed with a distinct roasty, almost burnt aftertaste on the back of the tongue. Seems to focus more on the malt character than the hops; was personally hoping for more upfront hops. Also didn’t get any rye flavor out of it which was surprising. Somewhat of a disappointment...the burnt aftertaste was unexpected.
Overall, an interesting brew that I will not buy again. msante79 (785), Orland Hills, Illinois, USA May 24, 2008 Bomber. Pours a semi clear orangish amber with an off-white head. Aroma is hops, malt, rye, and some citrus. Flavor is citrusy hops, malt, rye and some spices. Pretty chewy for a IIPA. Little different than your standard double. Would by again. KieferUGA (461), Atlanta, Georgia, USA May 22, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Nice dark, mahogany color. Citrus hops in the nose. Flavor is nice and balanced. Piney notes blend very well with the sweet, caramel malts zappafan99 (462), Ascension Island May 20, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Heavy malt and hops..chewy..my 6th beer today. Red body wtih white to tan head...Bittersweet is a perfect name for this beer. Thick chewiness, over the top, but not too ambitious.Very drinkable .
