Bottle. Pours a viscous translucent copper with a really nice light beige head that creates beautiful lacing. The brew looks to be pretty thick. When swirled, the bubbles inside seem to ease their way to the top. The aroma has a lot of burnt caramel and rye with some tinges of hops. Grapefruit and pineapple add in as a nice fruit background. Hints of pine seem to be noticeable as well. The mouth feel is about as thick as it looked as I poured it. It’s very viscous and creamy. The carbonation is extremely light on the tongue, but is noticeable enough to make some slight tingles. The initial flavour is caramelly with a nice amount of hops to sting the taste buds. As the brew sits, hops starts to intensify. It’s not until the brew starts to pass, the rye flavour bursts. And wow, it definitely bursts. A nice, baked, almost burnt, rye becomes the dominant flavour. It’s like eating bread. The hops mixes so well creating a perfect amount of bitterness to complement the rye. Towards the finish, pine starts to become a little more evident as well as the citric flavours. One thing I did notice is that the second sip I took right after the first, the rye didn’t blast nearly as much. I had to allow the intense hops flavours to diminish from my taste buds to enjoy that rye blast again. This is definitely a casual, sipping beer. This is so delicious, and most definitely my new favourite rye beer.

Pours deep reddish amber, with a nice, lasting off-white head. Very sweet, bready aroma with lots of sticky hops. Extremely full flavor, rich in malt base layered with sticky, resiny hops, woodsy, bourbony notes and a long-lasting dry finish. Full bodied, smooth, warming; moderately carbonated. Seems more than a DIPA...almost into strong ale/barleywine classification. A real treat.

Tap at Barcade: Deep amber pour topped by a dense off-white ring for head. Sweet aroma. Evident rye and candied malt character, some piny hops notes, a touch of mint and candied peach. Dense body, slightly cloying. Has a rich flavor with lots of sticky rye character along with resiny/piny hops. The finish is long and dry with a hint of minty character. It’s rich and dense but homogeneous. Goes from rich and sweet to a harsh bitterness. Not much underlying character in this big IIPA.

Reddish hued beer with a sticky beige head. Melted caramel and hop nose. Toffee sweetness, with hot hops, grafepfruit rind, oragne juice, apricot, and raisen flavors. Long, thick, sticky hop resin, citrus bitterness in the finish. Nice hop head brew. The ABV is well hidden in this one.
