HeBrew Bittersweet Lennys R.I.P.A

Red copper. Thick head. Even lacing. Chewy hop aroma prophesies a solid but not overpowering hoppy beer. Thick syrupy hop flavour. Thick body. Hop finish. Solid and delicious, rich in hop flavour.

Présence d’un mince col mousseux et d’une fine dentelle sur le verre. Saveur: Goût de caramel, de noix grillées et d’agrumes. Longue durée de l’arrière goût. Palette: Le corps est moyen avec une texture liquoreuse. Faible effervescence en bouche. Présence d’alcool chaleureux en arrière goût. (Rating #795)

Tasted at YeHA! 2006 in Montreal. App.: clear copper with light tan head. Aroma: sweet malt, raisins and dried fruits, a bit of molasses and sour cherries. Palate: med. body, slightly syrupy, med. low carbonation. Flav.: the nose repeats itself in the mouth with more pronounced raisins. A nice bitter finish and a bit of sweetness.

bomber. Deep amber/copper with ruby highlights. small to medium off white head. Aroma is lots of citrus, rye, and pine. Taste is citrus, rye, with a slight piney bitterness that last throughout the taste. Alot of caramel and malts are also evident. Full, slick mouthfeel. very nice.

reddish brown appearance with a white-tan head. powerful beer. obvious strong hop character of a double IPA but with reasonable balance. very long lasting flavor with a finish of alcohol at the end.

I had this on-tap at the 1850 Landmark Inn in Milwaukee. I had sampled this beer (more than once, actually) at the GABF, and it was the best rye beer I had there. However, I still prefer Founder’s Red Rye, although this beer is very good. It was served in a tulip glass and was a reddish brown color with two fingers of white head. Maybe it was the glass, but this beer had almost a cabernet wine sort of color to it, which was appealing. The smell hoppy, without a lot of maltiness that you might expect from a beer made with rye. But the rye was evident in the taste, but not to the extent that is in Red’s Rye. I felt that more rye taste may have made this beer taste a bit more balanced. The hop bitterness was good, and pretty untamed due to what I perceived as a lack of malt balance. Mouthfeel was good...not too sticky but also not watery. Drinkability was also decent. This beer has a high enough ABV that you’re well-advised to not go slugging down 16 oz at a time, but I could have multiple 8-10 oz servings of this beer. All in all, I’d recommend it.

Cream colored head on a dark reddish brown body. Aroma is lightly citrusy hops but not as much rye as I was hoping for. Flavor is a little better balanced. Tastes like some strange mixture of a rye stout and a IIPA... starts out like a dry rye stout and finishes incredibly hoppy. Biggest flaw is the huge alcohol presence in the finish, but interesting nonetheless.

Bu au YeHa! 06. Ambré claire, peu de collet. Arome d’houblon très sucré, comme du scotch caramelisé. Goût fort de scotch, peu houblonneux.
