unclemattie (2370), Georgia, USA Nov 11, 2006 If I didn’t know any better, I would have to call this a beer a HOPPED UP QUAD!!! Dark red in color. Thick off white head. Ton of hops in this one. Hearty malt aroma. This beer IS obscene. I love It! brewblackhole (1366), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA Nov 10, 2006 Hard hop and rye aroma, taste is flavor and bitter hops with a solid malt background, and that wonderful rye zing in the background. Alcohol is barely noticeable. It just seems to me that hops and rye are such a natural combination, and this is another wonderful example,a double IPA and Rye. I recommend all lovers of Red Rye to check this out jazz88 (2235), San Francisco, California, USA Nov 7, 2006 Updated: Nov 17, 2006Rating #1 Tap @ Amnesia Bar (7 4 6 4 16). A dark mahogany color with a tan head. Deep rich fruits (cherry), wood and earthy body with a malty caramel chewy base. A strong powerful aroma and flavor. Rating #2 Bottle (8 4 7 4 17). A brown ruby color with a foamy light tan head. A nice spiced rich malty citrus and hoppy aroma that foretells a big beer. Balanced well between being too bitter and too sweet. A peppery spiced dripping with hops syrupy goodness. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Nov 7, 2006 Pours a clear but dark brown with a light tan head. Smells hoppy with rye bread in the backdrop. Taste is of rye and hops with elements of doughy yeast. BuckeyeBoy (1639), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 6, 2006 22oz Bottle Pours out a clear amber topped withg a tall tan head. A very nice hop aroma. Pretty good sweetness. On this one. Along with some malt on it as well. thanks Indiana Red IndianaRed (1553), Boise, Idaho, USA Nov 6, 2006 Bottle pours a very clear deep redish copper with a large creamy light tan head. Lots of stong carmely malts and bitter hoppy notes. Flavor is about what I expected. Rich thick malt flavors and lots of bitterness. Late woody almost cardboardy aftertaste. Very thick heavy palette. Long lingering bitterness. Not as aggressive as other DIPAs, but enjoyable throughout, and better looking than most.
