festyzizzle (30), Brooklyn, New York, USA Oct 27, 2006 Off-white thin head. Dark amber body with lots of carbonation. Flavor of bread, almost cookie. After taste of fruit, maybe grapes. Different for an IPA, good stuff. DragonStout (1380), Pataskala, Ohio, USA Oct 26, 2006 I am not a big hop head.I did not like this as much as everyone else.I am rating this based on they succeeded at what they were trying to do.Heavy malts and hops are present.Along the same lines of Gonzo. Some citrus and dirt are what was present on the buds.A bit too bitter of an end.For this style great job. harmfuldrunk (288), New Jersey, USA Oct 26, 2006 tastes of honey, pepper, hops citrus and dry alcohol, very malty in a good way, deffinitly taste the rye and it changes it a bit. it is a very enjoyable experirence Indra (2018), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Oct 25, 2006 22oz. bottle. Powerful, virtually intoxicating aroma of pine, grapefruit, lemon, floral sweetness and lightly nutty, toffeeish malts, along with hints of spice, perfume and alcohol. Deep, dark red-amber color, clear, with a fine, mostly lasting off-white head. Hops dominate the flavor profile as befits the style, contributing plenty of sharp, juicy citrus character, and blending with lighter amounts of toasty, nutty, sweet and lightly bready malts, perhaps a hint of spice from the rye and towards the finish, a goodly amount of peppery alcohol makes itself apparent, the bitterness reaching a crescendo at this stage as well. Palate is resinous, slick and moderately effervescent, body is of course full. Highly flavorful take on the style, which crosses some boundaries into Barleywine and/or American Strong territory. Zeswaft (1000), Seattle, Washington, USA Oct 23, 2006 Ha, what a crazy gimmick for a brewery. Nevertheless, this was a shockingly good IPA. Big citrus hops up front and a spicy counterbalance of the rye. good job. bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Oct 23, 2006 Bottle. Rich ruby amber beer with a tan head. Citrus and slight earth aroma. Citrus and malt flavor with earth and spice backing. Very creamy rye mouthfeel. Hot - alcohol definately present. Nit bitter enopugh for an IIPA. Lingering pine, earth bitterness. bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Oct 22, 2006 (Bottle) Pours a dark amber body with a medium beige head.
