3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From bottle into snifter, clear deep ruby with lasting thick head. Smell is subdued, taste is quite nice up front but then it turns into a monster and does a piss poor job of hiding the 10% ABV...but that’s bittersweet. As long as you keep chugging and avoiding the ABV bite, it’s good. As soon as you stop...beware the demon. If you’re looking to get fucked up quick, load up. If you’re looking for something to savor, look elsewhere. Time to chug.

3.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
355ml bottle. Amber pour. Sweet and boozy nose like a barleywine, some rye and light smoke. Falvor is sweet and malty, has a lot of fruit flavors, some grand mariner, a decent bitterness. I would consider this a rye barleywine, this brewery really needs to work on their aormas though, their beers smell bad then end up tasting better than expected.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Beautiful dark amber with minimal beige head. Strong fruity aroma, rye malts. Taste adds more fruit, caramel and more bitterness for the hoppy finish. Very good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2015 12 oz single bottle from Molly’s Spirits into a stemless wine glass. Reddish amber and clear appearance with a small, lingering beige head, light patchy lacing and active carbonation. Aroma of light resinous hops, pine, earth, caramel, toffee, bread, light rye spice, toasted grain and a touch of cinnamon. Similar flavor, the medium hop bitterness is balanced well by moderately sweet malts and light to mild rye spiciness. Medium to full body with a pleasant mouth experience and a light dry, lasting bitter finish. All in all, it works pretty well. It has good aromatics, a pretty clean flavor and a nice mouth feel. It also hides the alcohol well and is pretty fun to sip on. Nicely done. Pairing: Big Head Todd and the Monsters - Bittersweet

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. (Davy Jones Liquor Locker) Venice, CA.
Clear amber colour with a mid-size foamy light sand head.
Dark hops, strong bitterness and sweet maltiness in the aroma. Very malty and hoppy aroma. The hops are not necessarily that fresh.
The flavour is herbal and resiny hops, strong bitterness, very strong sweet maltiness and some spices. Strong.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz pour, copper hue with creamy tan head, minimal lacing, overly sweet caramel malt smell with a bit of grapefruit, syrupy texture a bit sweet but maybe a pickled finish, overall more of a barley wine than an IPA but different and exemplary of the brewer

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12 ounce bottle, no bottling date that I could find. Served in a DFH IPA glass, the beer pours a slightly hazy dark amber color with a couple inch off-white head. Head retention and lacing are both pretty good. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like caramel malt, spicy rye, peppery spice, and pine and citrusy hops. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s the addition of some tropical fruitiness, earthiness and oranges. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s coating and is well carbonated. The 10% ABV is well hidden, it sure doesn’t drink like a beer that is that strong. One of my buddies gave me a bottle of this recently, and I’m glad he did! I wouldn’t mind trying this again, definitely worth picking up!

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample @ EBF.
Appearance: Bright golden-orange with a medium off-white head and good lacing.
Aroma: Burst of eucalyptus with caramel, peppermint and booze.
Taste: Moderate sweet. A lot of eucalyptus and peppermint with an heavy caramel malt presence, boozy notes and moderate bitterness. A bit more "balanced" than the aroma, but still cloying.
Palate: Medium to full body. Moderate to medium carbonation. A tad creamy. Sticky eucalyptus finish. Warming, borderline burning finish.
Overall: We aren’t in the "easily drinkable" category. A flavorful, but boozy and cloying DIPA. Way too much eucalyptus.
