| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 29, 2009 Pours a nice reddish orange with a big caramel colored head with some good lace. The aroma is simple but strong and very inviting, plenty of pine and caramel that you can smell across the room. The flavor is surprisingly dry likely from the rye which seems very dominant here, there is a lot of hop bitterness and the grapefruit aspect is pretty high here. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 2, 2008 Poured from a 22oz bomber and served in a tulip. This beer poured a dark, hazy amber with a one-finger thick head of creamy beige foam. Great retention and lace. The aroma of the beer consisted of sugary caramel malt, some rye spiciness, grapefruit rind, and oranges. The flavor included strong, upfront rye spiciness, caramelized sugar, light tea, bitter grapefruit, peach, and a shot of alcohol. The mouthfeel was thick and full-bodied. Minimal carbonation. Hoppy, malty, and spicy...tasty stuff. A well made big beer. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA
