General_Gao (2509), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Nov 6, 2007 22 oz bottle. Poured a clear copper color. Head was two fingers high and light tan with good retention and lacing. Lovely beer. Aroma was of nuts, toasted bread, caramel, husky grain, and citrus/resiny hops. There was also a hint of brown sugar. Sweet on the tongue and and very fruity with pineapple flavor. Alcohol flavor was fairly assertive and there was a toasted coconut note that was interesting. Only mild to moderate hop bitterness of about 4 out of 10 came through. Good beer.
fakepurseninja (487), Sammamish, Washington, USA Sep 3, 2008 Really sweet, rye malt backbone that is huge and all-up-in-yo-face. Big sweet caramel malt with strong, astringent rye components. Super resiny hop profile with lots of sharp stinging citrus and pine. Makes me think "Lagunitas" which IMO is a good thing. Butters (308), Richmond, Virginia, USA Sep 2, 2008 Pours a clear dark amber with orange highlights and a good, but fading light tan head with decent lacing and some chunkies. Aroma is deceptively malty. Flavor has a big hop-bite in the finish, but is decidedly well balanced. Syrupy body. Certainly doesn’t taste like 10%, but I sure can feel it after half a glass. Sleeper (50), Washington, USA Aug 29, 2008 Thick head (looks creamy) and nice amber color. Smells hoppy but not bitter (sweet?). Taste is hoppy , bitter, malty, ant returns to hops/alcohol. I taste something like plum Aftertaste is very pithy and dry. amish_caravan (209), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2008 pours a deep amber color. taste is of caramel and some burnt roast. taste is of hops and fermented fruit. very nice beer. IlanMan (529), Winona, Minnesota, USA Aug 23, 2008 Pour is deep golden ruby with a short lasting light tan head. Aroma is full of fresh hop chracters with some caramel malt. Flavor is very hoppy with a ton of malt and toffee caracters. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Dang good brew.
