Aroma is hop based with the citrus, spice, and pine, although the rye sticks out from the backgroud and is pleasent on the nose. Likewise on the tongue. The hops are up front checked by a sweet malt, with the rye breaking through in the after taste. Full body, syrupy texture, dry feel, and a little soft on the carb. Very interesting and balanced beer. High quality IIPA that is a little different. I would certainly drink this beer again and recomend to others.

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 6, 2010 Has a deep copper hue and a thick white head. Smells of rye and deep hops. Has a lot of rye malt and plenty or hops to this taste. Creamy at times. Nice twist to a DIPA. DeadGirl (278), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 4, 2010 Pours clear copper with a lasting beige head from the 22oz. bottle into a red, plastic solo cup (tailgating at the last Giant’s homegame at Giant’s Stadium so we had to go all out with some ’Brew): Spicy malts, a caramelized thick sweetness, and some hidden resin notes. A little sticky. Drinkability: Rye’s different. Interesting. Rebuy: Yes. I should re-rate this. #265 on 04022010, DG. popkow (131), New York, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2010 This RIPA into a pint glass with a large brown head. The rye malt is great addition to the hay aroma emanating from the hops. Smell a little alcohol with a bitter taste. Carbonation was lively and I like the appearance of a translucent brown ale. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 29, 2010 Enjoyed at The Stable. This beer poured an opaque reddish brown with little carbonation visible. A nice tan head left thick lacing. Rye, malt, floral and pine hops in the nose. Quite pleasant. Flavor was similar. Huge amounts of malt. Hops were more subdued but rye was prominent. Thick feel. Had this just before a Hopslam and Lenny outshone that beer. curly (1035), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 25, 2010 Dark hazy amber, medium sized beige head. Aroma of toffee, resin, alcohol, dark fruit. Taste is bitter up front with a long bitter finish also. Alcohol is noticeable, this is definitiely not some sweet citrus hop bomb but brutally resinous instead. Medium body and carboantion. smcolw (408), Wayland, Massachusetts, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jan 22, 2010 I experienced a very unusual pour. The first third of the glass seemed very flat, as if there is no carbonation. Straightening the glass for a more vigorous pour resulted in an overflow of foam. Very deceiving. The head lasts a long time with thick lace on the glass side. The color is dark reddish copper. Clear.
Far more malty than I would expect. Lots of caramel. The hops are quite muted. This is still an attractive aroma, drawing me to the
Large! Almost syrupy body with a large malt punch. The hop bitterness shows up almost immediately. The hop bitterness lasts and lasts in the aftertaste. Too much of a good thing? No way.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 19, 2010 Bomber poured into a pint glass. Pours amber with an off-white filmy head. Aroma is very spicy and piney with some citrus and toasty malt. Flavor is caramel and alcohol mostly, but it is somewhat balanced by rye spiciness and herbal hops and a solid bitterness. Thick and boozy, a real ass-whipper of a beer. Not exactly easy to kill a bomber though. tripelthreat (89), Soquel, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2010 Bottle. Orange-brown body with a big, dense tannish off-white head that left a good amount of thick lacing. Nose is sweet, with orange, caramel, toffee, spice and bready malt. Flavor is fairly sweet with toffee, spice and a good dose of one note bitterness. Full body and medium carbonation. Good, some big flavors and bitterness, just missing some elements to bring it all together.
