Take aim at Shmaltz’s newest year-round offering, an American Craft Lager thoughtfully created to stand up to the big beer Goliaths of the world. Boasting a bright, citrusy hop aroma, supported by touches of wheat and rye, Slingshot is guaranteed to strike the craft beer bullseye every time. Slingshot pours a bright straw color with a thin white head and light lacing. The aroma features juicy, tropical fruit notes of peach, lemon and red grapefruit with the light spice accent of noble hops. The polished malt bill is mainly 2-row pale malt with portions of Vienna and a touch of wheat and rye to add a delicate balance to the spice and fruit. It is medium in body with a smooth refreshing mouthfeel to make Slingshot a well-balanced, easy drinking American craft lager.

Hay and bread malt aromas. Golden amber color, off-white head. Great lacing. Taste is sweet malts. Not sure where the hops are?

Honeycomb, hay, dandelion aroma. Cloudy amber, floaties, thin head. Dry dandelion, honey on the edges. Grassy finish. Light to medium body, fizzy. Flavorful lager, good hop presence for the style, pretty good.

Draft to taster at Dutch’s. Pours a clear golden color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have biscuity malt, grass, light citrus, very mild spicy hops, decent, clean lager that would probably work with food.

Had at Americanos. Clear orange-amber, thick fluffy white head. Smells and tastes like a relatively standard lager though taste has some more florals and dry, bitter hop. Body is medium, fluffy, has a small citrus/pepper kick. Not especially interesting or even that hoppy.

Bottle at Americanos. Slightly hazy bright orange pour with big foamy head. Aroma is very faintly hoppy (very faintly). Taste is as promised - hoppy (but not that hoppy) lager. A bit plasticky hop flavor. Not as good as other hoppy lagers like Clown Shoes' one or Sam Adams IPL. Not bad but wouldn't get again.

Pours a hazy yellow with a big foamy white head and good lacing. Nose of caramel malts and citrus. Medium in body with a smooth mouth feel. Flavor begins withy citrus ands some brett, and moves to an earthy finish. Quite good.

Slightly hazy golden with a thin white cap. Clean lagery aroma with a dose of lemon and biscuit. Smooth and mellow semisweet flavor of blonde biscuitiness and a little lemon citrus tone and bright clean lager finish.

12oz bottle poured into Snifter. Golden hue, great clarity with 2 finger thick frothy white head. Good lacing. Strong citrus hop, lemon peel, light malt, floral aromas. There was some funky smell that I couldn’t quite pinpoint, medicinal aroma maybe? Bland watery taste up front but then it leads into a light citrus and floral taste. Crisp carbonation on the palate.

355ml bottle. This is David’s slingshot hoppy american lager in bottle. Just poured it and a definite brett presence in the nose. Color is an orange/gold Flavor is fruity hops, heavy brett with a medicinal character, tropical fruit underneath, mild acidity. Pretty good for a lager that seems to be unintentionally infected with brett. Call it a happy accident.

Aroma is hoppy and malty. All of the He’Brew beers I have tried so far have had a weird funky taste which is evident here as well. Decent lager otherwise but lacking in hops.
