3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tallahassee, Fl - Market Square Liquors - 22 oz bomber. Deep dark brown pour with a sticky dark khaki colored head that leaves a nice film of lacing. Aroma is fragrant with some light spruce accents, some brandy, a touch of chocolate. Flavor is bold, with some licorice, chocolate, citrus bitterness, some brown sugar and cola in the finish. Nice thick mouthfeel. Pretty solid.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bomber bottle: pours pretty close to opaque with a long lasting frothy beige head, good lace. The aroma has a garlic, onion and dank high alpha character but not as intense as some, light citrus and very herbal with a veggie undertone of celery. Moderate roast, hints of dark chocolate, nuts and coffee. The taste has a quick jab of bitterness and fint fruit before fading away and letting the "worty" roast and bready malt take over... sort of reminds me of my less successful homebrews, not bad but just not on point either. The mouth feel is flabby and grainy, not sharp nor clean, a tad ashy. This is sure not a hopped stout masquerading as an Black IPA but it really isn’t hoppy enough to be a DIPA either. Drinkable but not all that enjoyable.

Bottle; poured a very dark brown. Aroma of pine, earth, roast, caramel and cocoa. Quality aroma. Flavor had good balance:alt, sweet and hoppy. Piney and earthy; sweet and caramel; roasted. Easy to drink and good for the style.

Bomber. Deep brown with medium white head. Tastes like bitter celery. The thing I liked most about it was the cool bottle.

Bomber. Near black with a beige head. Chocolate, lots of malt and some hop aromas. Kinda intense, smokey and all over the place.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Solid IPA. Very nice dark brown head. Reminds me of a stout but with the IPA punch. Not terrible but doesn't stand out.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Sample at Teresa’s, brownish pours with light head and lace. Notes are toasty malt, dark chocolate, peanuts, and grain. You get some pine but mostly a hoppy porter like most of the style. Not bad but if rather have a little dankness in my black IPA like alpine and wookey jack a couple years ago. A little thin but still drinkable.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a dark chestnut-ruby brown with a large sudsy dark tan head. Mildly nutty, cola, and sorghum nose. Resinous herbal and beefy hops underlie chocolate milk powder and toasted malty wort flavor. Full body and slick. Some slight carbonation burn coming on mid-palate.

Fare thee well Josh tasting at Bruce’s. Thanks to Leighton. Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan - cream head. Palate is smooth and light. Smooth mellow dark malts. No real bitterness in the dark malt but there is a little coffee - cream. Hops are good and piney and bring a little spice but not too much bitterness. Whisper of skunk. Light smooth finish. Good stuff, hangs together well.
