3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample @ GABF 13. Pours a clear reddish brown beer with a medium sized beige head on top. Aroma is funky, doughy and had some roasted characters. Flavour is very sour, tarty and funky. Big oak and cherries going on here. Very nice surprise, didn’t see it coming.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Dark brown pour. More black. Small tan head. No lacing. Nice aroma of acetic sourness and molasses. Maybe too much molasses. Taste is the same with chocolate. A bit sour but way too much sweetness.

Bottle poured a dark brown color with a fizzy tan head. Aroma has bourbon barrels, rye, funky esters, dark fruit, and cherry. Mouth feel is medium with a thick coating for a sour and carbonation medium low. Flavor is rich on the barrels, dark fruit, and cherry tartness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of sweet pomegranate, wood, chocolate, rye bread, prunes, bourbon and spice. Taste is rich and sweet, very slightly bitter, woody, and full of dark fruit. Low carbonation, oily, full body. A little dry. I thought it would be way too muddy with all those beers in it, and it is perhaps a tad sweeter than I’d like, but it comes off pretty well.

650 mL bottle. Don’t know why I expected this one to be lighter coloured. It’s brown. Small brown head. Bizarre aroma has roast and funk up front. It actually smells like a bunch of different beers blended together. The sour hits you first, and you’re thinking, hey, this is pretty good. Then you get hit with all this other, sweeter stuff. Chocolate and all. Big in a weird, small way. Very, very interesting.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz bottle. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Fruity, musty and definitely funky aroma. Very sweet, probably from the pomegrante, and malty with dark fruit flavors among so many other flavors that change as it warms. This is quite an interesting beer and one that will probably improve with age.

Dark black in color... Aroma of coffee, funk, tartness... Flavor is huge... Coffee, chocolate are extremely prevalent and balance the tartness... Amazing

Sounds like it should be a muddled mess but this is some expertly blended stuff. Quite fruity with plum and apple, butterscotch and oak.

Draft at Moriartys. Pitch black pour that started with a tight white head that mostly disappeared. Big swath of flavors. Coffee and chocolate definitely, but it?s the deep dark fruit that seems most prevalent. Blunt sour funk surrounding notes of dried blueberries, strawberries and blackberries. Raisins, dates and prunes as well but, to me, the berry flavors are stronger. Some ash and spice as well. Thick body nearly coats the tongue. The bitters balance out the sugars. Big like a Stout, but style-wise very different. Feels like a chewy malt Port cordial.

Ahhh finally found this beer (Oblivion Taproom). The pour was a brilliant deep red with silky lacing. The aroma was of chocolate, molasses, oak, vanilla and raisins. This one packed some serious flavor, a lot like liquor-soaked, chocolate-covered raisins with lots of deep malt flavors. Once again does this prove why they are my favorite brewery.
