Strong aroma has a definite overtone of bourbon and whisky, plus a malty hint. Pours a rich, warm coffee brown with a thick dirty tan head. Flavor is quite sweet, a little too sweet for a beer - sorry, a point off there. It has a strong bourbon/whisky overtone and hints of malt and caramel. De trop de caramel, in fact. A good effort, but not my cup of tea - er, stein of beer. I’m glad other people liked it, though. Texture is thick and syrupy, fairly fizzy. I am drinking this, and it ain’t headed for the sink.

Wow alot going on here. Sweet smelling. Sweet and sour taste. pomegranate is present for sure. Many other fruit flavors along with some wine notes. Overall a sipping beer that was just to much for me.

Very dark brown, almost black, with a khaki head. Sour, acetic, fruity nose. Currants, leather, oak, and green apple. Mild alcohol and a hint of chocolate. The flavor is tart and acetic as well. Big currant, raisin, green apple, and lemon. Leather, chocolate, oak, and balsamic. A touch boozy on the finish.

Poured from a bottle it is a dark brown with a tan head with a funky wine aroma and tastes like very sour cherries

Funky indeed. Sweet ripe black fruits and cherries on the nose. Dark brown. Tastes like it smells. I expected more complexity but this tastes like a sour cherry dark ale. A hint of spicey rye. Medium body and silky. Good but not as exciting as I thought it’d be.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2013 Dark brown pour. More black. Small tan head. No lacing. Nice aroma of acetic sourness and molasses. Maybe too much molasses. Taste is the same with chocolate. A bit sour but way too much sweetness. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

750ml capped brown bottle from the brewery. Pours an opaque dark brown with no head. Medium-bodied with a slight molassas character. A lot going on, overall a sweet malty flavor balance. OKAY combination of so many beers’ flavors and aging environment.

Pours black out of bottle. No real head or lacing. Wow totally not what i was expecting. Has aroma of funk and cherry. Taste is sour cherry. I hate it and like it at the same time.

okay your going to think im nuts here but im going with rhubarb pie. this is more of a sour than anything. very tart. would have to say the pomegranate strong ale is definitely the beer that stands out of the beers this is mixed with. not a big fan of sours so i cant be fair in my rating. but it is what it is and i usually dont rate tart beers very well. this one is pretty good and you would never know this is over 9 percent,
