chilehead (186), Laguna Niguel, California, USA Oct 3, 2006 Had on draft at Falling Rock during the GABF. Can’t comment on what this tastes like from a bottle. Excellent! I was skeptical at the addition of pomegranite, as rarely have I found a beer with fruit to be truly exceptional, this exceeded all expectations. Nice malty creamy start with just the right amount of pomegranite finish to let you know it’s there. Outstanding balance. glyng (1), USA does not count Jan 9, 2007 I tried it to cold but over all a best bet.

Aromas are of pomegranate juice, kind of a sour cherry thing going on here. Sweet malts, and hops a plenty in the aromas. Flavors are of sweet fruit, along with bitter hops makes for an interesting combination. Alcohol is well hidden. Medium mouthfeel, thick body. Finishes rather sweet for a big beer. A damned good beer overall. beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Oct 2, 2006 Gemstone reddish brown. Thickly set medium sized capping of dark ivory foam laps the top. Fades slowly to keep a good collar and stretched strings of lace strewn about the glass.
Heady and fruity aroma thats fairly deep and semi dark that of purple grapes, fig, cherry, melon, and a slight edge of cardamom spice.
Taste is thick and fruity with a slight fuzz of fruit skin playing within the texture. Juicy and welcome rounded tones of melon flavors, milder, sweeter molasses, and slightly cooked sugars. Deceptive finish with a complexity thats astoundingly rich, full and enticing with a load of fun, dark, fruity flavors. Tiny bit of chocolate in the mix as well. A fair warmth begins to build as ya go and has a wonderful sinking touch within the thicker finish of fruity flavors that seem to flow with the grace of a very fine and fruity cognac.
Feel is firm and semi thick with a nice bold fruity tone thats rich and fairly thick on the palate. Malts are the main play here. Somewhat of a chocolately touch begins to emerge as you find the fruits to get more complex and has a very nicely set firming smoothness to its body. Great acceptance of warming to it too.
One finely crafted brew. Remarkably easy to drink given its 10% is pretty evident once into the bomber. A nice mix of Eisbock and Belgian Dark play. Fruity, thick, and enjoyably juicy with heavy sinking smoothness. jbrus (4305), Delft, Netherlands Sep 10, 2006 Bottled, my #1 at the LCRBM. Sweet, fruity cascade aroma in a very good way. Red color, yellow head, good lace. Sweet, bitter, hops, dough and caramel. Sticky and soft. Yummy!
