A - Served a cloudy red-brown color with a thin finger of tannish frothy head. Head fades down at a normal pace leaving behind some good lace.
S - Aroma is full of lots of Bourbon, oak, and vanilla, with some earthy hop and a touch of caramel malt and dark fruit.
T - Starts off with lots of Bourbon, oak, and vanilla with some earthy hops. Through the middle, more Bourbon flavor comes through with a bit of booze and some light malt, dark fruit, and bitterness. The finish is a mix of Bourbon, vanilla, oak, and some hop bitterness.
M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming finish.
D - Pretty drinkable. Big Bourbon flavor, but the beer holds up fairly nicely with some nice hp flavor coming through.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 maneliquor (1555) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - MAY 20, 2012
Bottle thanks to Jez. Pours chestnut brown with a small off white head which doesnt last. Nose is very cedar like. Lots of spice and whisky tones mingle with heavy, dark fruits. The whisky works well here. Dark fruits are heavy and a little sweet with the whisky. The barrel seems to add some subtle vanilla and spices to the beer, but what really seems to come out in this one is a massive vanilla malt note throughout. Full bodied and superbly hidden alcohol. Great beer

Bottle pours a cola color nice bigger head. Smells tastes caramel chocolate bourbon big wood flavor. Sort of sweet side of a barleywine big booze flavor. Pretty decent beer maybe drank to early still kind of hot would prefer a bit less wood flavor.

Bottle split w E @ FG. Poured into tulip. Dark red-purple pour with purple hue and brownish head. Sweet, chocolatey malt nose and tongue. Really complex palate with chocolate, fruit (light and dark fruit, dried fruit as well), booze. Medium to heavy mouthfeel. A little too sweet to me, but complex and intriguing. Also love how they incorporated flavors from Genesis verses preceding 15:15 (and I’m not religious).

Dark brown with dense brown head. Aroma and taste are intensely figgy with a concentrated classic barleywine yeast character. Very much a sipping beer, with high residual sweetness.

Decent sized light brown head of fine bubbles. Rich and malty aroma with lots of molasses, spiced apples, raisins, figs and caramel. A plethora of big aromas all blended together. Color is a very dark chocolaty brown. Rich, roasty, fruity and strong flavor all melded together. More raisins, figs, and molasses abound along with some spices and raw carmalized sugar. Some warming from the alcohol but the 13+% is hidden really well as you barely notice it. Not necessarily a good thing. Finishes rich and roasty and malty and sweet with a touch of oak showing through in the end. Another great brew from HeBrew!
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 Sammy (7035) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAR 15, 2012
Superior barleywine and unique. Complex with rye edge, imperial stoutish aroma. Good looking and lacy. Bitter from big hopping, a tad astringent from the pommegranent, sweetened by chocolate. Alcohol warming. A big beer for big beer geeks.
