3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark brown with dense brown head. Aroma and taste are intensely figgy with a concentrated classic barleywine yeast character. Very much a sipping beer, with high residual sweetness.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Decent sized light brown head of fine bubbles. Rich and malty aroma with lots of molasses, spiced apples, raisins, figs and caramel. A plethora of big aromas all blended together. Color is a very dark chocolaty brown. Rich, roasty, fruity and strong flavor all melded together. More raisins, figs, and molasses abound along with some spices and raw carmalized sugar. Some warming from the alcohol but the 13+% is hidden really well as you barely notice it. Not necessarily a good thing. Finishes rich and roasty and malty and sweet with a touch of oak showing through in the end. Another great brew from HeBrew!

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Superior barleywine and unique. Complex with rye edge, imperial stoutish aroma. Good looking and lacy. Bitter from big hopping, a tad astringent from the pommegranent, sweetened by chocolate. Alcohol warming. A big beer for big beer geeks.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Batch 001 from 9/7/11. Pours with a clear, very deep brown body with a tan head. Aromas are of concord grapes, dark fruit esters, alcohol, brandy, rye whiskey, vanillin, chewy, figs, alcohol. Flavors are sweet, chewy, tobacco, fudge, concord grapes, mild vanillin, light cherry, alcohol, raisins, figs, plums. Light bubbles, extremely sweet, lots of alcohol, and medium bitter.
For my palate: not nearly as nice as their BA Human Block Head (as far as their BA beers go).

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 15, 2012 Dark brown pour, small lasting head that forgot to lace. Lots in the aroma - Dried dark fruit, pomegranite, fig, raisin. Taste the same - Raisin, fig, Red grape, not much pomegranite but lots of candied and dark fruit. Plum. Complex and sweet. medium to heavy body. A hint of barrel but not enough to overwhelm or distract. A Quality brew from Shmaltz.

"Bottling Date: 9/7/2011"
intense dark roasty and fruity aroma, lots of alcohol. pours a coca-cola brown with minimal and fast-receding brown head. very sweet, somewhat balanced by bitterness in back and alcohol warmth. lots of oak in finish. thick and syrupy, really could be lighter, but tasty all-around. may be better with some more age on it.
