This is a great beer in the tradition of Amber Ales. Right after drinking one, I went and purchased the 6 pack so I could share it. It gives my favorite a run for its money. PhillyBeer2112 (1842), Orange Park, Florida, USA Jan 10, 2001 Unusual and somewhat humorous
marketing strategy behind this beer
but otherwise, this is a nice
American Pale Ale. Firmly bitter
with spicy hop flavors and aroma.
Enough malt to keep it balanced.
Very drinkable. BeerloverEJ21 (131), Georgia, USA Oct 23, 2007 I cracked this thing open, and I couldnt believe how much I liked it! I am very partial to brown ales, and this one is one of the best I’ve had...ever. Slightly sweet, medium bitterness, hoppy, refreshing. Not a high rating, and I’m not exactly sure why... But this one takes the cake. nearbeer (1231), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Sep 7, 2007 355 ml. Copper with a medium and lasting creamy cap that leaves lots of sticky lace. Wood, earth-spices, malt and apple aromas. Spicy malt front has cedar, oak, toasted nut, earth, apple, grape, pear and more. Finish is not that different but for the bitter grassy, herby hops that finally take the upper hand. Excellent balance of a lot of flavors here. Dry woods, chocolate, and dark fruit in the aftertaste almost makes me think I’m drinking a porter a few times. Palate is smooth and tingly at the same time, medium-bodied and has a nice dry finish. Tastes a bit English and that’s probably why it’s way underrated.
