A fairly bland attempt at making an APA. Apparently it is Genesis version 2.0. Maybe 1.0 was better?

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours an orange-amber color with a white head. The aroma has some toffee and biscuit malt in it, as well as some grass and a little bit of pine from the hops. The flavor has a decent amount of biscuit malt, with the grassy hops standing out. I also get a little bit of pine and maybe a hint of orange from the hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12oz bottle 4/13/12 (Binny’s Downers Grove)-39° in Lager Glass-Pours a clear medium copper with a small ring for a head. Aroma of hops and malt. Taste of malt, hops, caramel, and grass. This light to medium bodied brew is not bad but I was hoping more from these guys. Probably my least favorite ever from them.

I really can’t say I enjoyed this beer. Smaltz has only recently made its way into the Austin, TX market. They say you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Taking the clever name as the cover of this beer, I recommend a soft chuckle then leave it on the shelf.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Dark orange color, a little cloudy, some head that lingers nicely. Caramel malt aroma with a little citrus and grass from the hops. Taste is alright. Malt and bitterness balance pretty well. Not enough hops though. Mouthfeel and carbonation are good though. An ok session ale.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bronze colored and with a clean body, the thin and messy head portrayed a nice looking beer. The aroma reminded me of wet grass and honey with a floral hop bouquet. Light malts were in the taste and with a crisp hop finish this brew was full of grapefruit in the aftertaste. Indeed session-able.
