3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle. It pours a amber color with a medium sized long lasting white head. It has a citrus and spice aroma with maybe a little tropical fruit and dankness. It has a nice hop bitterness with spicy, citrus and tropical fruit flavors with a creamy mouth feel. I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve tried by this brewer and this is no exception.

A single b0ttle fr0m the l0cal Jewel: The b0dy is an amber/c0pper c0l0r t0pped by a skinny ecru head. The ar0ma is quite sweet, caramel, l0ts 0f it, with an underlying spiciness, s0me fl0ral n0tes, mayhaps, and a shake 0f black pepper. Creamy m0uthfeel. It tastes mainly 0f caramel, n0t 0verly sweet, with an earthy bitterness al0ng with s0me subtle spices. I like the flav0r. N0t 0verp0wering, but mildly sweet, spicy, and easy t0 drink. It’s a repeatable change 0f pace f0r this av0wed h0p-head.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours hazy light golden with a small white head, some retention and lacing. honeyed and lightly spicy maltiness, touch of caramel, some apple juice notes, floral, almost bland herbalness, faint citrus and pine. nothing more, really. average carbonation, light body - oily, relatively dry and muted grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. not what i would call sessionnable either. average ipa at best.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma: Light grapefruit; very slight Myrcene from the Simcoe (I’m guessing) with a touch of crackery malt. Appearance: Light copper pour, leaving a film of sticky white head. Flavor: Grapefruit is balanced by crackery malts; a touch of Myrcene rounds things out. Palate: Light body, creamy texture, soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Middle of the road for me, just seemed muted and understated.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass. Bottle says 5.5%
A: Pours a hazy dark copper color. The head is a two finger yellow shade. While it fades to one finger relatively rapidly, at that point the head retains itself quite well.
S: There’s a decent amount of piny, weed-like dankness juxtaposing touches of grapefruit. Malts definitely come through with prevalent caramel and toffee. Not my preferred style of pale ale, but definitely acceptable.
T: At first, there are wisps of dank weed backing a sweet-ish malt backbone, while the finish is mostly mild, pleasant grapefruit. Bitterness is well restrained. It kind of lacks flavor, to be honest. But there’s no one element that turns me away, either: it’s fairly harmonious and balanced.
M: This is where this brew succeeds. It’s light-feeling, crisp, and goes down quite easy. The low carbonation actually works because the finish has a good dryness to it.
O: Not overly interesting, but pleasant enough. I don’t really see how it’s a session ale at 5.5%. Not a bad beer, and not one I’d ever turn down; doubt I’d buy it for myself again, though.
