COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is the new recipe replacing the original He’Brew Genesis ale. Balanced between a West Coast style pale and amber ale with just enough malt sweetness to highlight a flurry of hop aroma and flavor. Witness the evolution of our original creation.

12oz bottle pours clear copper with light tan head. The aroma offers up sweet malts, some malt roastiness, a bit of nuttiness and then slivers of sweet dark fruity esters with some tingling spicy hops and molasses. The taste is similar with more malts than I was expecting with some decent malt roastiness, a bit of biscuit and then it flows into clean spicy to earthy to a bit pine resiny like hops. Into the finish some grainy malts make an appearance as do a bit of sweet dark fruity esters. Pretty nice level of hops that seem to be at about equal strength to the malts plus esters.

Bottle to pint. Looks solid for the style; a transparent amberish dark orange with off-white lacing and lively carbonation. Smells of robust citrus hops and malt. Tastes like it smells, but significantly less hoppy. Average on the palate. Decent beer, but it smells better than it tastes.

Bottle. Pours with a clear golden to light amber hued body with a small white head that lasts with some lace. Aromas are bready, malty, biscuity and lightly grassy. A touch of grapefruit and citrus. Flavors are medium citrusy, orange, tangerine and grassy hops. Some bready and toasty malt with low caramel. Lively bubbles, somewhat dry finish. Not bad.

1/27/12. 12oz bottle. Clear amber pour with a small khaki head. Plain aroma with some caramel malt. Sweet caramel flavor with pale malts, a touch of roast, and lingering citrusy hop character. Meh.

Bottle at Ale Mary, Baltimore, September 2014. Amber in colour with, a decent, off-white, head. Some citrus hops, sweet tangerine fruit, crisp malts and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

pours hazy light golden with a small white head, some retention and lacing. honeyed and lightly spicy maltiness, touch of caramel, some apple juice notes, floral, almost bland herbalness, faint citrus and pine. nothing more, really. average carbonation, light body - oily, relatively dry and muted grassy-spicy-citrusy finish. not what i would call sessionnable either. average ipa at best.

Bottled. Poured a lovely shade of coppery-orange with a creamy cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up juicy orange, mango, and pineapple over caramel, a touch of molasses, and something earthy/fruity that I couldn’t quite place. The flavor opened with bitterness and a bit of sourness.. caramel and dark bready sweetness at the core.. quite bitter on the edges, but aside from a mild citrus component, the bitterness was nondescript.. finished bitter with some fruity and caramel sweetness. Light-medium bodied and bitter as mentioned on the palate.. I enjoyed the nose, but it was downhill for me after that.

This is alright. Smells hoppy, amber colour. Bitter but watery, light on palate and flavour. Session indeed, but that’s just an excuse anyway. Bottle from thirsty and miserable.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off white, mostly lasting. Body is medium to dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain/bread, caramel), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), with a light note of diacetyl. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic, lightly astringent. Ordinary aroma, a bit buttery. Ok flavor balance, although a bit citric. Nice lasting head, but overall a pretty bog standard pale ale.
