COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Draft… Hazy caramel-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The nose offers rindy, pithy and resiny hops with suggestions of caramel and tropical fruit. Full-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and lazy carbonation. The flavor mainly provides grapefruit accompanied by a sufficient measure of rindy, pithy bitterness with hints of caramel and tea biscuit. Finishes bittersweet and a touch grassy. My kind of IPA.

Funny that I just learned the story of the "manna" that sustained the jews for forty or so years in the desert.  Some think it’s a food produced from a mysterious nuclear reactor-like energy source.  Whatever it was behind it, the substance itself was actually an algae.  Now, I’m thinking, "algae beer"?  Not sure this is what the He’brew folks were thinking when they named this beer.  I’m sure it rather has something to do with the divine sustaining powers of hops.  Maybe.  Anyway, this beer first seems to me to be an IPA with the sweetness of a dense, coppery amber ale loaded with crystal malts.  Not all that impressive in appearance, being pale amber and cloudy with no head in my glass.  But the aroma and flavor makes up for its lack of visual attraction.  A great bouquest of spicy and earthy hops gracefully overpower the remaining sweetness.  The beer has a bit of an up-front bitter bite to it that carries a tasty sweet, spicy bitterness slowly to the back of the mouth  well after the beer’s made its way down the throat.  A lingering, slightly floral bitterness persists in the finish, supported by a slight earthiness.  A slightly soapy character pops its head up occasionally.  Otherwise, this is a really nicely decorated, hop-oily treat from Schmaltz.

Poured from a bomber, new penny copper on the cloudy side, with medium white head. Nose was mostly of the malt, on the grainy side. Taste was balanced between the sweet and bitter, and left a bitter finish. Medium bodied, overall an enjoyable brew.

Orange with mild head slightly hazy disapating shortly with a ring and spotty lacing. Aroma is hoppy with orange/tangerine fruit maybe some floral and spice. Taste is good with refined fruit citrus like hops nothing bright tart or crisp, more smooth soft and refined some toast and light carmel with a mellow citrus bittering, seems less carbonated then most ipa’s.Pretty sessionable ipa.Nice lingering smooth citrus, pretty refreshing pretty juicy.
