In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Total Wine, Fairfax 650ml ($5): Pours a copper color with a nice big head. Aroma is citrus hops, grapefruit-like: very west-coast, but not extreme. Taste is similar. Medium body. Proper carbonation. Relatively easy-drinking. Hoppiness is moderate. Bitterness is present. Aftertaste is acceptable. Beer is good.

From a 22 oz bottle poured a coppery color with a small white head. Definitely well turned out IPA aroma. Initially the taste is pedestrian IPA but then it blooms into a full blown palate ripping hop singing beauty!

He’brew Hop Manna IPA has a very thick, fluffy, cream-colored head and a clear, somewhat bubbly, golden appearance. Lots of heavy lacing is left behind. The aroma is of pine cone, flower stem, sweet bread, and turnips. Taste is of pine resin, sweet bread, syrup, malt, and a slight sourness. Mouthfeel is mostly medium, and He’brew Hop Manna finishes dry, refreshing, and highly drinkable. Overall, this is excellent. RJT

This was a great find at Tom Leonards in Western Henrico. The IPA poured a clear amber with a nice frothy head and lacing. The bitter citrus greets your nose and the taste of bitter grapefruit continues throughout the experience. The medium body has lively carbonation. The finish has a sublte bitterness that lingers in the top of your mouth.
