In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Bomber from Connecticut Ave again. Pours a deep amber, good foam lacing and residing calmly on top of pour. Aroma is mega-sweet, a little off-putting. Taste then is surprisingly watery in the early palate, followed by somewhat cloyingly malty sweetness and then a mildly bitter hop finish. Not bad, but a bit of a muddled brew, weak where it should be strong (hop presence) and too much malt-sugar-sweetness. Body and mouthfeel are both also too thin. Good to try, but not a regular for me.

Bottle. Bronze amber with a solid white head. Nose is sweet and cheesy, a good chunk of resin, grassy and herbal. Flavor is similar, sweet and bitter, some pine, citrus, lots of bitter resin and sugary. Sounded promising but alas it doesn’t really work. Some diacetyl creeps in as it warms a bit.

Golden orange pour with a thin white head. The aroma has a nice bright citrus aroma. A little bit of orange and some light pine and grapefruit. A little bit of soft peppery character as well as touch of lemon peel as well. Fresh and hoppy with a little bit of malt just backing up the hoppiness. Bright and fresh. Lovely stuff.

Bottle. Pours with a lightly hazed copper hued body with a medium white head. Huge dank aromas, citrus, resin, sweet, floral, pungent, grapefruit, sweet, caramel, alcohol, hops, mild esters. Really fresh smelling (should be as it is brand new). Flavors are off. Plastic, wet dog, bad malt, medium bitter with lots of tangerine. Soapy and detergent like. Pine. Very soapy, dry, light vegital. Lively bubbles, medium bodied.

22oz bottle labeled as Hop Mania #4 pours up clear amber with copper hues and off white head. The aroma offers up some stunted pine hops, earthy citrus fruit peel and then it rolls into a bit of boozy heat and dark fruity esteriness at the end of the draw. The taste starts somewhat hop neutral and a little malty for a moment and then it picks up muted blunted pine hops. To midway the pine hops move into resiny notes just as orange and lime peel and slivers of sweet malt are noticed. It stays tart with citrus hops as well as pine hops into the after taste. The level of bitterness is pleasing in this one.
