COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Hazy golden with a perfect white foamy head. Aroma of resiny farm-fresh hops and a little tiny bit of grapefruit rind, and a touch of malty sweetness. Flavor is mildly bitter but tastes primarily of hop oils and resin, a little leafiness, and a quiet and tamed pale malty sweetness. Ho-hum.

Dark gold, medium head, aromas were more malty than hoppy, and very mild, but flavor was very hop-forward. Spruce in there. Full bodied, heavy mouth-feel, lingering finish. Good ale.

This is my go to beer. In my city, I get very little. Aroma is citrus and Pine. Color is the same as most of the style. Taste is bitter up front, Pine citrus grapefruit in the mouth. The best I have access to. I buy all that shop has when I go. #2 behind fresh Heady for me. Better than Pliny and Hopslam by a mile.

Draft at Devil’s Advocate Mnpls. Lovely perfumy hop aroma. Mostly clear amber with thin off white head. Nice lace. Excellent IPA. Creamy, moderately sweet, good hop profile.

Bottle. Pours a somewhat hazy golden amber with a medium to large off white head. A bit of piney hops on the nose, then a bit of paper behind it, fuzzy and malty. Medium bodied, a touch tart and papery, toast and bitter malt. More paper and cardboard into the finish, a bit of hops. Disappointing.

In short: A perfumy golden IPA with a weak malt backbone. Below average
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed fresh (probably fresh) a few weeks after purchase
The look: Clear golden body topped by a large white head with medium retention and leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose is very floral, candied oranges, leafy, honey flowers, citrusy, green pine needles. All this come together for a rather ‘girly’ perfumy hop aroma. Malt backbone (and I use the term loosely) is elusive, sparse grainy and toasted malts, dry bread crumbs here and there loosely held together by a fluffy texture. Light fruity flavors of bananas and apricots. The sharp bitterness of medium intensity is orange peels, flowers and green pine needles. Lots of small bubbles. The hops attempt to dry out a finish in a beer that has almost nothing to dry out and that creates an astringent sandy after-taste. Drinking the full bomber was easy enough simply because any hop forward beers are very easy to drink for me, but this is a flawed beer. Nothing memorable here, but at least I’m getting to enter another rating on ratebeer, and one thing I must say about all the time I waste on ratebeer is that now I am less ashamed of all the time I waste watching TV.

KajII (705) - Macon, North Carolina, USA - JAN 24, 2013
22oz Bottle. The pour was a medium copper orange with an average (1-2 finger) almost white rocky head that receded slowly, down to a large puddle and large collar with excellent full sheets of lacing. The aroma was of a grain malt, floral and grassy hops and a soapy yeast with notes of caramel, citrus (grapefruit) and a mild fruity ester (pineapple I believe). The taste was lightly sweet and a tad bitter with a touch of caramel and a light fruitiness pretty much throughout, with the finish being much more on the bitter hoppy side with pronounced bitter citrus peel ending. The flavor lasted a long duration following the swallow, with a lingering grapefruit bitterness left behind. Mouthfeel was just past light in body and mildly dry in texture with a somewhat mild carbonation. Overall this was a smooth and tasty IPA, with a good balance between the hops and the mild caramel sweetness, which definitely allowed for a very enjoyable drinking experience...

~Strong floral aroma with citrus like orange and tangerine. Well balanced with healthy aroma of bready malts and honey like sweetness. ~Pours a hazy golden color with creamy white lasting head. ~Sweet honey flavor with lot of floral hop and citrus hop flavor. Great combination and well balanced flavor in this IPA. ~Medium full bodied with medium CO2, lingering floral hop finish. ~Best IPA I have had on commercial scale in awhile. Really liked the blend of different hops and malts.
