COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

The hops escape the bottle even before I begin to pour, grapefruit peel and a bit of that new grassy/oniony aroma. I give the aroma a 10 for quantity, but only a 6 for quality. Lovely yellow-gold color. Bitter hops and sweet, juicy malts combine for superb effect. Flavors of tangerine and shallots. Although I find it hard to get past the onion, it’s still very tasty, smooth and well-made. I’d like it a lot more without that flavor (Citra?)

Nice mix of hops and malt here with nice booze and mash. Some weak malt and nice citrus. Pours amber with good head and lacing. Foamy head. Good. Tap at DC Beer festival.

Overall a very solid IPA. Aroma of citrus and grapefruit. Taste of citrus, grapefruit, somewhat bittersweet, nice and crisp, taste does not linger, not much alcohol. Appearance is clear medium color orange, large head that dissipates quickly, small lacing.

Hazy, pale amber, white head that leaves only a little lace. Strong hops in the aroma. And a great bitter bite without an unpleasant aftertaste. Enjoyed mine with popcorn. Is that kosher?

A slushy, cloudy dark orange. The head quickly turns into slush. Minor lace. The aroma is pure hops; bitter, baby. Some woody ish going on here; no balance but a pungent scent. The taste is much more flowery; perfume and jasmine. Some kind of powdered ice tea. Prickly feel; what a good beer this is.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a mildly hazy copper color. The head is off-white in color, and about a finger high, maybe more. I like how well it retains in the glass, and the impressive lacing left behind. S: Along with an undeniable presence of piny, herbal hop notes, there’s also a slightly sugary tone to the malts. Traces of grapefruit appear, but this is mostly pine-forward. Allowing it to warm up gives it a slightly bolder aroma; at a lower temp, it’s simply too mild. Otherwise, it smells perfectly decent if unspectacular. T: It’s not as bitter as I might have anticipated. Rather, it’s surprisingly sweet, with lots of caramel malts providing an initial surge of sweetness, and the hops coming across like grapefruit juice with little (if any) pine. There’s also some back end nuttiness to go along with the mild finishing bitterness. This is pretty damn good, actually. M: While it’s sweet, the crisp and clean finish helps to scrub away any excess sugar, leading to a pleasantly semi-dry finish. I’d even call it thirst quenching. Carbonation isn’t significantly strong, either. Regardless, it’s pretty easy to drink. O: This was a bit better than I anticipated. It has that juiciness I like in my IPAs, but is perhaps too sweet at times. Still, I’d buy this again, no problem.

Been a while since my last HeBrew beer. This one’s pretty nice. It has a golden/amber body with a short head but does some fine lacework nonetheless. It has a nose of tangerine and zest with a bit of pine resting atop some sweet toffee. The flavor is hop dominated, lemon zest, tangerine, and a hint of cat supported by a light generic malt backbone. It finishes dry and moderately bitter. Not bad at all.

Poured 22 ounce bottle into a tall .5 liter glass. Poured a cloudy deep copper color, with thick frothy head. Presented a great hop flower and noticeable aroma. The flavor is of a citrus and toasted grains. Large hoppy flavor, but not over the top. A great mouth full of IPA from beginning to end. Bravo!
