COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Sometimes, there is nothing particularly special about a beer, but with some beers (certainly with this one) that doesn’t matter. With bold citrus and floral notes, a nicely hopped, bitter finish, there is no particular aroma or flavor that makes this different from any other IPA. That being said, the style is done so well here, it’s fantastic.

Gold pour with creamy white head and lace. Aroma is resiny hops and medium malt. Flavor is sweet bready malt and resiny hops. Solid resiny bitter with notes of lemon zest. Bitter grows as it goes. Medium body with just a touch of fizz. Solid ipa

12 ounce bottle, no dating on the bottle that I could find. Served in a pint glass, the beer pours a hazy golden/orange color with about an inch off-white head that stayed around for a long time. There’s also a good amount of lacing. The brew smells mostly like pine and citrusy (orange peel, grapefruit) hops, along with some bready malt. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also some wheatiness noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s coating and a bit creamy with a good amount of carbonation. I liked it OK, but I didn’t think it was one of the better IPA’s I’ve had. Since this bottle was given to me from one of my friends, I really have no idea how old it is. I’d like to try this again in the future.

Bottle from Whole Foods Market in Redwood City, CA. Pours a light amber with a very frothy head. Aroma is hops, hop resins, earthenware, something chemical / moth ball-y. Taste is moderate bitterness with a bit of metallic / tinny taste. Wonder if I got an older bottle.

Bottle purchased at Elevated on S. Mpls. Consumed in pint glass. Golden orange with minor off white, maybe tan head. Huge aroma of hops and pine. Leads into a hop forward IPA with some caramel malt balance. Slight pine and floral. Aftertaste is resiny and slightly bitter. Coats the mouth with an oily presence. Easy to drink and enjoyable although not as unique as expected.

Nice enough IPA. Clean sweetish caramel malts but not too much, bright fresh citrus and floral hops, good balance, semi-dry at the finish, almost creamy mouthfeel.

Very nice beer. Good copper color and fruitful head. Hop palate is not wrecking but enough to know what you have. Decent alcohol carries.

Draft sample at Cherry Blossom Beer & Wine fest, golden amber color with white head. Aroma notes of tropical fruity citrus/piney hops and caramel malt. Taste adds bitter grapefruit, resin, citrus zest, some dankness and herbal notes. Medium body, low-moderate carbonation, oily, dry with lingering grapefruity/pine hop bitterness. Wonderfully complex IPA.
