COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the book of Exodus, the ancient Hebrews survived 400 years of bondage before the ultimate supreme court dropped the 10 deadly Plagues on the land of the taskmasters and the head dictator, Pharaoh. Even then, only begrudgingly, did he Let My People Go. The freedom ride across, nay through the sea left a band of wandering nomads broke and suffering, no doubt with a profound hunger – and a mighty thirst. Enter the Manna: a glorious gift to nourish body and soul. Manna was said to combine the tastes of everything most delicious to each individual, depending on their desire. And as the Good Book says, Each shall gather according to one’s need and shall enjoy a double portion for thine chosen day of rest. Manna fed the entire tribe, but tradition suggests the righteous received manna ground in a heavenly mill, while the wicked had to grind it below for themselves. Hear o’ Tribe of Shmaltz – Behold: A celebration of the flower of the craft beer revolution! A golden opportunity to feed your inner hop head and rejoice in HOP MANNA, our newest delicacy of the modern He’brew Beer family. L’Chaim! Dry Hopped with Centennial, Cascade and Citra (Centennial and Cascade in Batch 4).

Cloudy amber beer, goods cream coloured head. Palate is softish and a little airy. Mild fine carbonation. Nice soft creamy malt base. Good hops - rich tangerine and orange, mild marmalade. Whisper of aniseed. Finishes soft and creamy with mellow hop bitterness. A mellow and luxuriant IPA - very nice indeed!

Mid amber-yellow pour into a Spigleau IPA glass. One finger head that left no lacing. Funky aroma and taste. Some herbs, spices, hops, malts, and possibly something hibiscus-ey in the palate. Not bad. I prefer IPAs with more citrus notes than this, though. The malt flavour is definitely dominant.

UPDATED: AUG 19, 2014 rerate: I kept the other half of the bomber and put a stopper on it. I just drank the rest and enjoyed it way more than last night. adjusting rating to reflect the positive experience. less cheese and more paint thinner but far more drinkable.

Expectation: I bought it for the ratings it got. We’ll see.
Hardware: bomber from the past into La Petite Tulipe
Nose: cheese, citrus and more cheese.
Sip: why? for science! Alpha nonsense going on. If I focus on that it’s not that bad. grapefruit.
Taste: bitter indeed
Conclusion: muddled mess. The other half of this bomber will surely go to waste. got boozy in the end. not finishing my glass and going to read instead. Goodnight - 5/4/8/3/9 or 2.9 on 8/18/2014 7:48:37 PM

Bottle consumed at Cropredy ’Fairports Annual Reunion’ Festival, Cropredy, Oxon, Friday 8th August 2014 Pours orange amber, its quite hazy. The maltiness (crystal) is quite prominent, but the hops are quite pushy also, its just a little sweet. Soft in mouth, a little juicy with a bit of fruity caramel. Good. A6 A3 T7 P4 Ov14 3.4

Flaske: Orange klar øl med et fint lille skumhoved. Duft af citrus og let cannabis samt crystal malt Smagen er humlet med en god del crystalmalt sødme. Fungerer ok.

Hop intensity with spice, citrus, and pine. Sweet caramel malt backbone. Burnt orange color, lacing, frothy head. Very bitter.

A dark amber malty IPA with lots of British character. There are plenty of spruce and citrus hops, but not a ton of bitterness and a mild aroma. Caramel malt and bread, pretty sweet for an IPA. A nice change of pace.

Pours a hazy orange with a fat finger of thick white head with great persistence and heavy chunky lacing. Nose is pine, citrus, tropical fruit, and grassy hops against a sweet caramel malt backbone. Taste is similar, with a blend of bitter hops and caramel malt. Smooth mouthfeel with medium body and an off-dry lingering bitter finish. Not bad, but not really the hop profile or malt balance I prefer in an IPA. The mango flavour plays slightly too dominant a role, and there’s a stronger sweet malt presence than I’d like. The hops blend loses its edge against the malt background, and though it’s hop forward, it’s missing the resiny sharpness I prefer.

Aroma is more sweet than hoppy with hints of honey and clove. Not a very strong or complex scent. Looks imposingly dark, almost with a great sticky white head of foam. Taste is a battle between pine hops and malt sweetness. I would say this IPA borders a little on the sweet side, surprising since it is only 6.8%. The most hop bitterness comes through in the aftertaste. Palate is good for an IPA, very well made. This is a good beer but I lean more toward the big Imperial IPA’s.
