FROTHINGSLOSH (1510), GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 23, 2007 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very dark brown with light ruby highlights and a medium sized red-brown head. The aroma was sweet ripe fruits - mostly cherry and apple - with strong notes of molasses. The flavor was full of fruity hops, molasses and dry chocolate in the finish. The beer was marvelously thick and full bodied and hid the alcohol very well. Marvelous! TheBeerLover (1013), DC Metro Area, USA Jan 28, 2006 Jewbelation 5766 pours to a beautiful, bright, deep garnet to brown color with a thick and creamy tan head, and a moderate amount of carbonation. The nose on this beer is just jam packed with big malt and hop aromas. Sweet malt, coffee, roast, and toasted, nutty aromas marry with citrus and pine aromas paired with peppery alcohol. The palate on this beer is rich and full with just layers of malt character. Sweet malt, dark chocolate, coffee, roast, and toasted nut flavors fill the mouth and coat the tongue. There is a lot going on here, and this beer is just a wonderful beer to slowly sip and savor. Jewbelation 5766 finishes with lots of those big flavors up front, then ends roasty, then bitter with a smack of piney hops, and some warming alcoholic warmth.
waolsen (1021), Littleton, Colorado, USA Dec 2, 2006 tap at falling rock during GABF 2006. dark black, cranberry pour iwth cream tan head. good lacing. rich choclate, hops, sour malts, rum oak barrel, sugar and alcohol aroma. creamy mouth. instant alcohol warming, oak barrel, sweet chocolate, rich malts. sugar fades in the aftertaste but you can lick it off your lips. coffee fades in towards the end. This was absolutely amazing. andyhite (276), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Oct 8, 2006 ok, first of all, i need to preface this by saying that i’m reviewing the 10yr jewbilation brew, but i can’t find that on this site. perhaps i’m not searching for the correct item. anyway. on to my opinions...
this black pour stays true to the hoppiness of the He’Brew brews. i’ve tried the R.I.P.A., as well as the Genesis, and i must say that the Jewbilation 10th Anniversary will never let anyone down. There’s a nice thick head on this fairy robust beer. Also, there’s a chocolately-caramel palate that overwhelms. it definitely caught me off-guard, but in a surprisingly pleasant fashion. The bitterness is appropriate, as it does not exceed the brew. it’s a fabulous beer with a nice long coffee finish on the back-palate. because i enjoy the complexity of the palate, i have to agree with a few of the other critics in the fact that it is a great brew. pick it up if you have a chance. Heathen (521), Riverside, New Jersey, USA Jan 9, 2007 Bottle. Poured a dark brown-black with red highlights and an average-sized, off-white, creamy head. The head diminished quickly but laced good. The aroma was of moderate caramel chocolate and mild coffee. There was also just a touch of skunk that I may have just been imagining, because it didn’t come through in the flavor at all. The initial flavor was light bitter chocolate finishing with moderately sweet, heavily bitter dark chocolate. There was also some smoked nutty flavor in there. It had a full body and was syrupy in a good way, with lively carbonation and a finish feel of bitter chocolate (if that makes any sense). Way better than I remembered. (I had a bottle a few months before joining ratebeer, and really started paying attention to how beer tastes and not just how much alcohol was in it.) I remembered liking it, but not loving it like I would say now. It a shame that it is retired. I will definitely try to snag another bottle or two of this one before it goes the way of the Dodo.
