4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Ap-Pours a deep brown with ruby edges. Medium head was tan and smooth with good retention and lacing.
Ar-Rich dark fruits such as dates and prunes. Notes of port wine. Subtle hop presence. Overtones of port wine. Slightly earthy like peat.
T-Wonderful dark fruits like dates, and prunes with a hint of tart sweet cherries. Anise and tobacco juice come in next with the hops. The hops seem to be more of the European variety than anything. Alcohol is unmistakable, giving it a red wine taste. A creamy roasted mocha flavor ensues. Smoky long finish. This beer does not let your mouth rest. The flavors are varied and balanced. Intense.
P-Smooth and creamy start. Full-bodied but not cloying. Warming.
O-I tried hard not to like this brew. I had tasted it before at a beer tasting event at the local beer pub. It was one of the last offerings and I panned it a bit, so I wanted to remain consistent. However, I chalk up my poorer earlier assessment to tired tastebuds. This ale is very strong with good alance and hug complexity. Not a beer I would drink every week. But one every other month it is wonderful.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber thanks to Sean. I love this brewery. Pours a dark unclear black color with a medium tan head. A big fruity nose, some smoke, heat. The flavor is very sweet, sticky, oil, dark fruit, molasses, some, some spicy rye. Really drinkable despite the ABV and sweetness. Oxidized a bit which helps. Tobacco.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
6/03/2010: He’Brew 13... Aroma: Hmmm... Weak maltiness; citrus hard candy; possibly a hint of smoke (barely). Appearance: Deep brown in color with a thin beige head and rapidly dissapears. Flavor: Richand chewy; dark malts - caramelized malts; citrusy; decent alcohol presence. Palate: Medium to medium-full in body; a touch thin; fairly smooth. Overall: Lacks richness and depth; somewhat disappointed; the high level of alcohol is degrading the flavor and depth that previous versions of this beer have had...

Hello. This beauty has aged wonderfully!!! Cracked it open after losing my passport and having it found at a beer bar. Dark brown color, light brown head. Rich malty, off sweet nose shows figs, milk chocolate, caramel, molasses, raspberries and rye bread. The mouth is superb, as the flavors have really melded well and shows great depth of fig, caramel and milk chocolate. Very rich, but never too sweet or cloying. Warming lingering fig finish. I loved this beer. Definitely a good winter warmer!!!.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: A brown malt orgy that is not too boozy. Surprisingly nice sipper
How: Bottle 22oz, consumed with some age on it (2 years?) because I rarely felt like drinking a 13% beer by Hebrew
The look: Cloudy very dark brown body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is an overload of malts with rich toffee, pastry, hazelnuts, chocolate and more. When cold the beer doesn’t emanate too much booze so the aroma is rather inviting for the sweet malty beer lover. Taste is just about every calorific malt related flavor… toffee, chocolate cake, grandma’s date squares, crusty sugar pie, roasted hazelnuts, burnt caramel and certainly other stuff. And then tobacco leafs and some other flavors probably related to the hops. Surprisingly the alcohol keeps a relatively low profile. For a gimmicky beer (13 kind of malts, 13 kind of hops and 13% abv) I thought this beer was surprisingly cohesive. I’m not a fan of monster sippers but I found this one to be above average, a beer like this would certainly score above 4.0 on ratebeer if from a hyped brewery. Good sipper here, I feared it would be a train wreck and I was pleasantly surprised. When putting my thoughts together to write this rating I realized I actually liked this beer more than I thought I would, I often surprise myself with my ratings, sometimes I start to write a sentence and I don’t even know how it is going to guacamole.
