In Jewish tradition, 15 marks major commemorations: Passover (the Exodus), Sukkot (40 years of wandering), and Tu Bishvat (the New Year for Mother Nature) all start on the 15th day of the Hebrew month. 15 suggests a certain wisdom from experience: “Old is always 15 years from now.” – Bill Cosby. “We are always more anxious to be distinguished for one talent we do not possess than 15 we do.” – Mark Twain. After Andy Warhol, does 15 forever sound profound or frivolous? “In the future, everyone will be world famous for 15 minutes.” “Fame is the thirst of youth.” – Lord Byron. “The fact that my 15 minutes of fame has been extended is somewhat surprising to me and completely baffling to my wife.” – Barack Obama. For Matt EP: Hall of Famer Bart Starr rocked #15 as MVP in the Packers’ first two Super Bowl victories. “South Park” evolved from “Jesus vs. Santa” and is now entering its 15th season. “We’re rehabbed and ready for our 15 minutes of shame.” – Marilyn Manson. Lyrics from Barry Manilow’s 2011 album, 15 Minutes, released on QVC Network: “Make me a deal, I’ll sell my guts for glory.” “Fame and power are the objects of all men. Even their partial fruition is gained by very few, and that at the expense of social pleasure, health, conscience, life.” – Benjamin Disraeli. The name of this beer is malty. the beer is full of many dark roasted flavors of toffee, caramel, candied sugar, cocoa and a bit of spice. the hops are apparent but not as distinct as one would think. this beer is a masterpiece of flavor, yet it is not to be drunk without care.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a beige ring of bubbles. Always challenging to put words on these brews considering all the varied ingredients. Smells like chocolate cake, raisin, orange peel, dates and caramel. Thick and creamy with a sexy tingle. Taste is honey, fig, caramel, espresso, orange chocolate and dates but not as sweet as it seems. With all the stuff involved it’s amazing this is so approachable, alcohol almost completely hidden.

The aroma is quite strong and complex with dark fruit, malt, hops, spices, and alcohol. The appearance is almost black with a small head. The taste is like the aroma and is super sweet. The palate is smooth. Overall this beer is hard to enjoy from the incredible strength but has some great qualities.

FROTHINGSLOSH (6484) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - JAN 1, 2012
Sampled on draft this beer poured a black color with a small tan head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was complex and sweetish with notes of fig and plum and touches of pine and cola. The flavor was very sweet with strong notes of fig, pine, cherry and molasses with undertones of tobacco, raisin, cocoa and wood. The finish was long and sweet with lingering molasses, raisin, cherry and fig. Thick and full bodied. The alcohol was well hidden given how strong the beer is. Wonderful.

I wait to buy this every year, just to see if they can pull it off. This year it is a bit sweet probably to hide a bit of the massive ACL 15%. Even with this a very smooth pour and really a great tasting complex brew. Quite amazing so i still give it a great rating.

Pours as dark as night with a decent slight caramel colored head. Smells like a stout, malts, chocolate. Mouthfeel is super smooth with no hint of alcohol. Tastes of malt, vanilla, some fruityness. Outstanding.

22 oz of the pound for pound champ, $5.25 for 15%....WHAT?!?!?!?!?! Poured a solid black/brown with a very small super tight foamy light beige head. Aroma is sweet and hot, notes of sherry, bourbon, vanilla, dates, dark fruits. Body isn’t so much full as it’s just thick and super syrupy with softer carbonation and only a touch of heat. Flavor of syrup, figs, dates, touch of nutts, wood, under cooked chocolate and molasses. Man this is the bargain beer of 2011 and I’m guessing 2012.

Bomber. Pours very dark brown with tan head. Aromas of raisins, molasses, dark sweet malts, and a little booze. Flavors of sweet dark malts, raisins, chocolate, molasses, and some booze. Big sweet beer Of the malty variety.

Not surprisingly a whole lot going on with this beer; very complex, malty, heavy alcohol, and required me to power through it. Might smooth with age, but felt a tad overbearing to me. Might be better paired with food rather than by itself.

22 oz. bottle. Dark near black pour with a small off white head. I can’t think of anything more untenable than He’Brew’s abv matching the anniversary year series. What are they going to do in their 20th anniversary? Their 30th? I digress. Aroma is bold, vinuous, lots of grapes and prunes. Pregnant like a woman spilling over her bra. Flavor is extremely sweet. Mollasses, honey, prune juice, alcohol. Cheap milk chocolate, pure sugar, that weird fake chocolate milk stuff at the grocery store. So sticky sweet I had to check to make sure this beer wasn’t from The Bruery. Big, thick mouthfeel. Way too sweet. I needed something to cut the sweetness. My cat knocked over the bottle and I wasn’t even mad.
