3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 CaptainCougar (7093) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 8, 201222oz bottle: Pours a dark viscous mahogany with a stringy-lacing froth of beige head. Has a sweet dark caramel, brown sugar and raisin nose with some grapefruity hops. Starts with a thick dark sugary sweetness with light carbonation and lots of molasses and some complex black cherry fruitiness before a warming, slightly cloying finish. A little too sweet and boozy for my tastes, but considering that having 15% abv was a prerequisite, they did a good job of making it somewhat drinkable.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 5000 (4974) - Hardened Liver, Washington, USA - APR 24, 2013
Bottle:   Nearly black, very dark brown, moderate to large frothy beige head, dies quickly, sparce lacing.   Heavy sweet bready nose, some dark pitted fruit, a bit candied.   Dark sweet alcoholic bready malts up front.
Some dark pitted fruit, hoppy, candyish, and luckily not as cloying as I thought it was going to be.   For a 15% beer, this one is very easy to put back.   Warming, but not real hot.   This is one fine sipper!
Body and mouthfeel are moderate to full.   Moderate bready malts, candyish citrus peel, dark pitted fruit, and hops on the exit.   This is a great beer, very easy to put back.   Could sip this one all day long!

22 ounce bottle poured dark brown with some amber highligts, aromas of caramel, light bread and booze, lots of booze. Flavors were light caramel, light chocolate and tons booze. Way too boozey for me.

Bottle 35,5 cl. Courtesy of Doodler. Pours an almost clear dark brown with a reddish hue and a tiny - almost absent - off-white head. Rich aroma of thick, sweet overripe fruit. Very solid body, pours thick and syrupy with hardly any carbonation. Nuts and thick caramel with a warming alcohol finish. Not too bad really - basically let’s just call it a Barley Wine. 250313
4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 MrHangover (1102) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - MAR 19, 2013
Bomber bottle, thnx to Duffman. Cheers! This pours a very dark beer with a reddish hue around it. Big tanned head on top and very decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is very malty, caramel, molasses, toffee and a very light alcoholic note, despite the 15%. Hops are not present in aroma. Flavour is very sweet with one of the stickiest mouthfeels I’ve ever had. Has a roasted body, almost stout-ish actually. Incredibly complex and it only gets more complex when warming up. Alcohol shines trough in the end, but it is not disturbing. Very good sipper, great to enjoy on a nice, monday evening. Awesome!
