12oz bottle. Blackhole brown. Heavy and dark. A bit muddled as far as complexities & subtleties go, but so nice nonetheless. Slightly sweet w/ dark fruits prevailing. Paired w/ a heavy Perdomo smoke on a beautiful afternoon.

Vintage 2010 : Huge sweet malt, dark fruit , creme bruelle, and some cellar aged "English-Styled" oxidation that mostly works. Faint anise seed, pipe tobacco, and copper along with a healthy dose of chocolate. More than a bit muddled however... Fans of Firestone Walker would like this more than I.

Rated on 4-28-2012 at Fort Wayne, IN Gathering and bottle provided by patrick767. This beer has a small smooth tan head that is fully lasting, dark brown opaque body and no lacing. The aroma is malt, chocolate, sweet, fruity, and alcohol. The flavor is malt, sweet, fruity, fruity, and quite boozy. The mouthfeel is soft carbonation and this is a full bodied beer. This is a boozy sipping beer with a good flavor. It is worth trying.

22oz bottle... All to myself. Seems like a higher than average fill on this bottle. First sip... Awesome, this is not a big boozy super sweet mess. I have a shot at finishing this. Very dark brown / red color. Thin off-white head. Little metallic, oxidization in the nose... Spicy flavor, good roast malts, little dark chocolate. Moderate bitter taste, moderate to bigger sweet. Some light alcohol bite and warmth at the end, but it’s pretty reasonable for 14%. Good chocolate, light coffee notes. Dark fruit. Bigger body, but not chewy. Kind of a slick texture. Lighter carbonation. The fact that I managed to chief through this whole bomber without much of a problem is a huge deal and earns this an extra point. Amazing.

Poured an amber color with aromas of rye and booze. Flavors are fruitcake with some toffee, caramel and booze. Decent beer but too much abv and real bozzey.

Pours a rich black in the glass. Aroma of dried fruits; figs, prunes and dates. Aftertaste is a bit like fruit cake, molasses and toasty malt. Sweet coffee like flavor with more of the dried fruits in the aroma. Overall, a really tasty brew. Thanks again to BarZigKin for his generosity.

12/20/2010: He’Brew 14th Anniversary Ale (14 malts & 14 hops)... Aroma: Lots of caramelized maltiness; hard candy - orange citurs; alcohol; flambéd golden raisins. Appearance: Good lookin’ brew... Deep chocolate brown color with a lasting tan-colored crown. Flavor: Sweet, sticky on the lips, thick and yummy! BIG maltiness; strong molasses; slightly nutty; sweet, yet balancing bitterness that has hop flavors of resin and slight citrus; char; some alcohol, but the whole 14% isn’t showing. Palate: Really nice. Overall: FANTASTIC beer! I would love to get my hands on another bottle of this!

22 fl. oz. bottle (14% Alc. by Vol.) shared by Tmoney99. Thanks a lot, Tom. I appreciate it! Rating #187 for this beer.

22oz. bomber: This one pours an inky, bark brown color. There was a bit of a brown head on it that leaves some lacing. Decent enough nose. Lots of malts to the nose. Chocolate, caramel, dark fruits are most prevalent. Also getting some citrus and pint hops. Also a bit of alcohol. The taste is pretty good. Some caramel and chocolate malt sweetness. Raisins, vanilla, molasses, hints of coffee. Lots going on here, but a pretty decent mix.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized dark brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a . The strong aroma was vinous roasted malt and dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt sweet dark malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

Opaque black - brown beer, residual tan head. Light malt, chocolate and minerals on the nose. Smooth silky palate with moderate carbonation. Smooth dark malt, whisper of chocolate and coffee. Much more dominant are sweetish red berry fruits - cherry particularly and aniseed. Finishes with more light and airy coffee malt. Some hops kicking in and providing a bitter aftertaste. Nicely joined up and drinks well below it’s 14.0%
