3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 HoppityHop (158) - New Jersey, USA - DEC 27, 2010Another stupidly good Imperial Stout-like anniversary brew from Jeremy and crew...........didn’t think you could get beer up to 14% without extensive refermentation, but what do I know? Very nice, as always.

22oz. bomber: This one pours an inky, bark brown color. There was a bit of a brown head on it that leaves some lacing. Decent enough nose. Lots of malts to the nose. Chocolate, caramel, dark fruits are most prevalent. Also getting some citrus and pint hops. Also a bit of alcohol. The taste is pretty good. Some caramel and chocolate malt sweetness. Raisins, vanilla, molasses, hints of coffee. Lots going on here, but a pretty decent mix.
3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 thedm (4773) - Fort Wayne, USA - JAN 1, 2013
This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized dark brown colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a . The strong aroma was vinous roasted malt and dark malt. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish vinous aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of roasted malt sweet dark malt and hops. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

3rd May 2011 Opaque black - brown beer, residual tan head. Light malt, chocolate and minerals on the nose. Smooth silky palate with moderate carbonation. Smooth dark malt, whisper of chocolate and coffee. Much more dominant are sweetish red berry fruits - cherry particularly and aniseed. Finishes with more light and airy coffee malt. Some hops kicking in and providing a bitter aftertaste. Nicely joined up and drinks well below it’s 14.0%

Ok put 2 years of age and a bit less alcohol on these Hebrew beers and you got something to work with. This one has a nice nutty, chocolatey stout type character to it. The booze is almost gone to my previously assaulted taste buds. I enjoyed this one quite a bit.

Brown pour, tan head. Aroma is very malty and sweet. Dark dried fruits, some honey and syrup. Flavor is sweet and big malt driven. This might have lots of hops, but it doesnt show. These anniversary beers are interesting to taste, but I cant drink more than a few ounces.

Two and a half years on this bottle has done it well, almost Danish malt tasting, strog and sweet

A - Pours a dark brown with a hint of brown around the edges with a thin finger of frothy khaki colored head. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind some lacing.
S - Aroma is a mix of dark caramel malts, dark fruits, coffee, caramelized sugars, with some grapefruit and pine hops and some booze.
T - Starts off with dark sweet caramel and caramelized malts, with raisin and other dark fruit, molasses, and some grapefruit and citrus hops. Through the middle, some coffee flavor comes through with some vanilla, pine hops, and a bit of bitterness. The finish is a mix of sweet caramelized malts, dark toffee malts, dark fruit, molasses, a bit of coffee, and some booze.
M - Full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth and a bit syrupy with a warming and sweet finish.
D - Very drinkable. Good strong malty base with enough body and alcohol to balance.

bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours dark amber-brown with a tan head. It has a rich malty aroma with dark fruit. The flavor is of very sweet malt, dark fruit, and some alcohol in the background that’s pretty unavoidable at 14% abv. It works though. Somehow a blend of so many malts and hops with a huge abv has produced a tasty, full bodied brew though IMO not as good as some of their previous anniversary ales.

Bottled. This brew has a lot going on in it and the schmaltz brewing company blended it all together real nice. Some of the things that stood out for me was the hop / earth / dark fruit / chocolate / roast and caramel traits that all seemed to intertwine really well.
