4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled in 9/2013. Pours nearly opaque dark brown/black color with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, raisin, prune, fig, date, licorice, wood, leather, tobacco, pepper, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, raisin, prune, fig, date, licorice, wood, leather, tobacco, pepper, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal/spicy and roast/char bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, dark fruit, licorice, smoke, char, leather, tobacco, pepper, wood, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a nice roast/hop malt/bitterness balance; and zero cloying sweetness or astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness; increasing through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and very full body; with a very creamy/slick and fairly sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with a light-moderate warmth lingering after the finish; with minimal booziness. Overall this is a great strong ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Still quite hoppy after 3 years of age, which provides great balance to the huge malt flavors. A very enjoyable offering.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Noticable exhale upon opening the brew. Thin head at best which dissipates quickly. Signature stong malty alcoholic aroma. Raisins and plums along with loads of sweet malts and molasses. Color is an oily black. Loaded with flavor, malts and alcohol like all of their anniversary brews. Licorice, cough syrup, burnt toast, roasted grains. This brew is actually much better and more balanced that some of their previous anniversary brews. Maybe because i let the one rest for about 2 years before opening. A pretty damn good and tasty brew from HeBrew.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle... Pours tar-black with a tiny, creamy, beige head. Good retention. The aroma is a hearty and complex swirl of tawny port, singed toffee, dark raisins, toasted nuts, ethanol, cigar tobacco and black bread. Full-bodied and syrupy with prickly carbonation. The flavor features candy sugar, milk chocolate, caramel, dark raisins, dates and tawny port with loads of harsh, boozy heat. There is quite a bit of bitterness in the finish. The bitterness is a touch metallic, but not offensive. Charcoal, burnt caramel and ethanol heat linger quite a while after each sip.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Shared a 22oz bottle with some friends. Poured a pitch black color with a small tan head - more carbonation and head than I expected on this one, but head doesn’t last very long. Wispy remains behind. Aroma is dark fruits, like a ton of dried fruits - lots of burnt malt notes too, brown sugar. Bitter earthy notes, brown sugar, booze. And I mean a lot of booze is in this one. Very warming, but a year or so has mellowed out the edges a bit on this one so it was actually pretty drinkable for what it was since only two of us were partaking in this one, but I don’t think I’d return - I hear they no longer try to match the anniversary year, which is probably a smart move.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bomber, cellared about a year. Ruby hued deep dark brown, mocha foam settles and fades. Dark roasted chocolate malt aroma. Taste is mostly rich sweet dark roasted chocolate malt, molasses, dark fruits, quite boozy and intense, totally over the top. Softer carbonation, full bodied, lightly hopped.
