COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
How could we hope to top last year’s Jewbelation Sweet 16 with its cupcakes, unicorns, & Satan’s Ferrari birthday cake? massive challenge. So for Year 17, we threw in a whole new dimension to our shtick – we built our very own brewery! After 17 years of contract brewing, our first Shmaltz Clifton Park batch emerged 17 months after the first draft of the business plan. Coincidence? Renaissance means “Re-birth” in French & Italian. In Buddhism, the concept does not truly translate as “reincarnation” but instead as “becoming,” or a “stream of consciousness.” 11 syllables structure a haiku. Shakespeare penned 17 comedies. In The Simpsons episode “Duffness” Homer sings “When I was 17″ about buying his first beer with a fake I.D. “I drank some very good beer. I stayed up listening to Queen, When I was 17.” In The Office, Dwight recites Rule 17 that all Schrute boys must learn: “Don’t turn your back on bears, men you have wronged, or the dominant turkey during mating season.” Knowledge and growth come in many forms. It is taught that Nirvana is only attained when the soul transcends cycles of rebirth. Looks like Shmaftz just isn’t there yet. So with 17 malts, 17 hops, and 17% abv,JEWBEL4TIONREBORNserves as another mark of our death as a contract brewer and proof of our conversion to a new life as brewery owner…… L’Chaim!!!

Hugely boozy in the nose. Big flavors of chocate and coffee. Quite tasty - masks the 17% incredibly well

vicious with nut and fresh malt. a bitter finish with big mellow taste of date and raisin. full mouthfeel to this deep caramel colored brew. little alcohol for the profile except for the expected dryness.

This was quite the beer. Very complex, sweet, lots of flavor and very well balanced.

Pours deep mahogany into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Dark chocolate, sourdough pumpernickel, and dark pit fruit aromas. Thick and full with sweet caramel and soy sauce upfront turning to licorice and candied hot chocolate covered cherries in the lasting finish.

Great beer if you like a really strong American Ale. This was made in 2013, I think I may take one of my bottles and save it for next year. Only complaint is the booze taste is a bit to prevalent. I think it will mellow out with age. Its hard to hide 17 ABV in any beer.

Bottle. Holy .... This is a BIG, BIG beer. It’s a gigantic beer in every way ... deep and dark-as-night ruby red, the head perhaps a bit too quick to run away. The aroma is rich and sugary, full of robust dark intrigue. Onc eyou start drinking this, it clings to your lips several minutes afterwards. The flavors are explosive ... chewy dates, raisin, cooked brown sugar. Thick as a peanut butter sandwich. (#5441, 2/17/2014)

Every year, I think that next year will be a huge mess. Every year, I am surprised. Less burn than you would expect at 17%. Delicious, dark flavors like burnt caramel, raisin, and plum. 17 hops? Where? There's no room in a malt bomb like this. Looking forward to whatever Legal Age brings!

Tap at FW Gman. Pours a very dark brown color with a light ring of brown head. Aroma is sweet malts, sweet sugar, caramel and more brown sugar notes. Nice and sweet. Big brown sugar flavor and a crazy tingle on the palate. Finishes burning. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Sampled on draft and from the bottle. Delicious both times. I’m still amazed that this is 17% alcohol. I really wouldn’t have pegged it over 11%. Pours a good clear dark brown with fizzy light brown diminishing head and great legs. Aroma notes of molasses, caramel, chocolate, toffee, anise, and bread lead to an even more complex flavor profile of plum, raisin, cassis, port, tar, soy sauce, licorice, and cola. Oily and thick on the palate. Really nice. Can’t wait to try again in a few years.

Dark plum colored brew. Lacy head. Performs like an American Strong Ale. A bit boozy. Figgy and bitter. You definitely can taste it. Full bodied. Complex. Not for everyone.
